Chapter One

 “UNCLE KING WAKE UP!!!”

And that’s how I wake up every day. One of my many nieces, nephews and cousins wake me up by screaming.

“HAYDEN MIRACLE GRAY LEAVE HIM ALONE”

Then I hear a little whimper coming from the little human on top of me. “Sorry Uncle King.”

“It’s alright firefly.” I feel sorry for the kid honestly. She’s the oldest and she loves hanging out with her cousins but she’s almost always getting in trouble for something whether she did it or not. I know I’m president of this MC but I’m not about to tell my sister how to parent. She’d try to kill me honestly and my other siblings would probably let her.

There’s a knock on my door before it opens slightly and a face pops through. Liliana, my little brother’s girlfriend. The poor girl’s only 16 and my stupid brother got her pregnant so her parents ended up kicking her out and her 4 siblings followed her. I admired their loyalty to their family so I let them stay with the club. The Grays value family over everything and when we fall in love we don’t fall again. That’s why I let Liliana and her siblings stay. Well, that and her older brother is a member and we always help our members no matter what.

“Sorry to disturb you King but Kiara and Sirena left for their appointment at Hayden’s school and I was supposed to be giving the little princess a bath and her breakfast but she ran away.” Liliana seems really nervous talking to me.

“Angel. Look at me. You don’t have to be nervous here. You’re family. My brother loves you and that’s enough for me to include you in the Hawks. How do you think you got the name Angel on your cut? You’re pretty much a guardian angel for him and god knows that kid needs it.”

That’s when Liliana starts to laugh for the first time since she moved here 6 months ago. I’m honestly so happy that I’m the one who managed to make her laugh. God Nate’s gonna be so jealous but it’s worth it.

“Firefly you heard Angel. Go on, I’ll take you, Hayley and Cameron to the toy store after you’ve had a bath.”

Then I feel the 5 year old’s little arms wrap around me and I can tell she’s excited. “Thanks Uncle King.”

Then I look up and make eye contact with Liliana. She smiles at me. “I’ll go find Alex and Francesca before you take their kids.”

2 hours later...

“Hayden Miracle Gray!” I shout through the toy store. I have to admit, normally this would attract lots of attention but since I’m the prez of the Gray Hawks MC here in Corsington no one pays it any attention when I’m wandering around with loads of crazy little kids.

“Sorry Uncle King.” I look down and see the little ginger-haired girl looking back up at me with those puppy dog eyes she’s perfected over the years.

“You should know by now those eyes don’t work on me. I seriously need to talk to Francesca and Daniela about teaching all the kids to beg like that.”

“But Uncle King, momma told me it works. She said that mommy used to do it to you.”

“I’m going to have a chat with your mommy and your momma later firefly.”

“Please don’t shout at them though Uncle King, that’s really mean.”

“I know firefly, I won’t shout at them.”

“Promise?”

“I promise princess.”

“I’m not princess. Mommy’s princess. I’m the firefly.”

“I know but you’re exactly like your mommy when she was younger.”

“Ok Uncle King. Can I get some toys now?”

“Of course firefly. Make sure you pick something out for Hayley and Cameron too.”

“They’re little babies. They don’t need toys”

“All babies have toys.”

“Did I have toys when I was a baby then?”

“That’s a question for your parents firefly. Now, go pick out some toys.”

That answer seemed to satisfy her enough. Hayden’s only five and she’s already been through so much. My sister Sirena and her girlfriend Kiara found her sat outside the clubhouse gates three years ago. She had no belongings with her, just a scrap of paper that said:

Take my daughter as a peace offering between our clubs. I don’t want any of this hostility to continue, it killed my wife and it’s a miracle this little one survived. I can’t look at her without hurting anymore and I offer her to the club’s princess.

-Vipers MC Prez.

The club’s princess is Kiara. She was the first female member so she was quite famous. At the time she’d only just turned 16 and Sirena was 25 but Kiara still wanted to be the poor girl’s mother.

No one has ever seen the Prez of the Vipers MC. It’s based in Sacramento, unlike the Hawks which are based in Corsington. But the fact that this guy gave up his daughter proves that he’s completely heartless. We got my VPs, Eagle and Falcon, to go to the Vipers clubhouse and get some information about the kid.

We found out that she was the Prez’s daughter and she was a 2-year-old who was born in July so we knew the basic information about her. They said her mom was killed in the war between the Hawks and the Vipers and her name was Miracle, which lead to Hayden’s middle name. We might have hated the Vipers but we didn’t want to take the girl’s identity away from her.

“Uncle King! I found a toy!” The little girl shouting at me snaps me right back into reality.

“Sorry firefly, I was daydreaming. Let’s go buy you this toy then go home.”
