Chapter 1

I watch from the tight, narrow hallway as my father slips on his white hazmat suit, it’s new so it’s as white as a feather from a dove. We arrived in Sundale Valley a few days ago and my brothers and I begin at the local school today, it’s hard being away from my friends. Starting a new school with a bunch of teens who know everyone and could gang up on you at any moment, but mother said these kids are nice, sweet and welcoming, I hope that she’s right. I peep my head a little further into my mother and fathers room and lay my eyes upon the small digital clock, bleeping the numbers 5:44, it’s that early? I think to myself, I though my father was starting at 7. If he starts at 06:00 and works for 12 hours he will be working until 19:00. Suddenly the loud beeping on the digital clock strikes, as if somone was trapped and screaming to be let out. My father runs round and presses it off before my mother awakens. After my father has got all his equipment he begins to walk to the door and I run to my room, I don’t want to be caught being awake at this time. As I jump into my little sofa bed, I slam the covers over my face, heart racing and close my eyes, allowing myself to drift off into a dark, sleepless night of terror and fear.

Prologue

In a small neighbourhood called Sundale Valley in Connecticut, ten families live, isolated from society working at a nuclear power plant with scientists from the government in LA. Producing bombs and discovering chemicals which can be used to take out the enemy, our family got tranported after my father was travelling 3 hours to get to his work, there’s a small population of around 50 people. We live in a community where everyone knows each other and when we came it was as if we were from another planet, not aware of what we were going to experience.
