I

I’ve lived with Pop for over 20 years. For 20 years, I’ve been picking up the hay, picking up the dog dung, picking up the dead chickens when the drought arrived. I’ve been working all my life. Well, for as long as I can remember that is. When I was 2, my mother became pregnant. They said it was to be a boy, My brother. I was going to call him Charlie. My mother fell in the museum once. Killed the baby. It killed the baby. And my Mum.

II

I sat in my room imagining what the world would be like if everything was made out of... cake. I mean, wouldn’t it be nice, if you fell, you fell on sponge cake! Pop says there are 2 kinds of people in the human race. The believers and the realistics. Pop is the realistic one of us. He knew that I’d never be, let’s say... an artist. On the contrary, I think anyone can be a artist if they put their minds to it!
