Chapter 2

It was lunchtime and no one had spoken to me all day.  I had been training with different weapons all day, trying to find the right one for me. I tried a bow, sword, spear,  a dagger, and even a gasraphete, which was basically a crossbow. I was halfway through weapons when I had to leave for lunch.

When lunch was over I headed back to the arena to try more weapons, I tried a ballista, and I finally came to the weapon I was ignoring, the scythe. I tried it, and it came naturally. I was amazing. A boy with black hair and sea-green eyes walked in. I continued slashing at the training dummies. He just watched me and I finally said, “Aren’t you supposed to be with your cabin mates?” I turned around and he said, “No, I’m the only one in my cabin.” He looked down, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” He looked up and nodded, “Want to spar?” He asked. I nodded. I readied my scythe, and he brought out a pen, he uncapped it, and it turned into a sword. We sparred as we talked. He asked me, “What’s your name?”  I replied, “Olivia. What about you?” “Percy Jackson.” “Who’s you’re godly parent?” “Poseidon.” “You must be pretty powerful.” “Yeah, I guess I am. And by the way, are you good with a bow?” I stepped back, and sat on the bench, Percy following my example. I shook my head, “There’s the target, over there,” I started, “See that arrow on the ceiling over there?” I pointed to the ceiling about 100 feet to the left of the target, “That’s what I can do.” He nodded, “It’s not like I’m any better. What made you choose a scythe?” I looked down, “It just called to me, I ignored it and tried all the other weapons, with all I failed miserably with. I tried all of them and I ran out of others to try, and I was a boss at it, and I have never even touched one before.” He nodded slowly. The sun was starting to go down and I could feel it, “You missed dinner, we were all worried. So, I came to find you.” I nodded, “Thanks, but I’m not hungry.” I looked down, just as my eyes turned silver. He said, “Ok. I had fun sparring, maybe we could spar again sometime.” I looked up and smiled, forgetting about my eyes, “That would be great!” He smiled, and then jumped off the bench, “What the Hades?!”  I realized I had forgotten about my eyes. Annabeth came running in, “What happened,” and then her eyes wondered to me, “What are you?” I looked down, “A demigod who’s eyes turn silver when the sun goes down.” I remembered that in Tartarus, it was the only way we could tell night from day, my phone didn’t work well down there. I ran to “my cabin” and packed for my trip to meet my mom. I looked around the room, at the black walls and the ceiling painted with stars, at the silver bunk beds around the cabin, at bows and the quivers filled with arrows on the walls. There was a knock on the door, “Who is it?” The person hesitated, “Your mother’s friend.” My eyes widened and I grabbed my backpack, and opened the door. “Artemis!” I whisper-yelled, “Shh. We have to go before anyone recognizes me.” I saw her silver chariot parked outside “my cabin” . It was a beautiful silver, the same shade as my eyes during the night, it had beautiful carvings of stars, and the moon. Attached to it where eight deer. Artemis got in, and gestured for me to do the same, I got in, and we were off.

When we arrived, we were on the moon. Literally. There where craters everywhere, with white powder for the ground. Artemis climbed out of the chariot, and held out her hand to help me down. When I had my feet on the ground, I realized something, “I can breathe?” There is no atmosphere on the moon, so people can’t breathe on the moon. Or for that matter even talk. Artemis nodded, “Over there, you see that crater?” She asked, pointing to a large crater in front of us, “She’s down there.” I nodded, “Thank you.” She nodded.

When I had finally made my way down to the center of the crater, I saw a woman with long, wavy black hair and silver eyes, like mine at night. I approached her, “Are you my mom?” I asked, “Yes, Olivia. You’ve grown so much sense you were born.” I looked down, and she grabbed my chin and made me look her in the eyes, she told me, “You have beautiful eyes.” I nodded, “I could say the same for you.” At first she didn’t get it, but then she understood and started laughing. Her laugh made me feel like I was standing outside at night, with a warm breeze and beautiful constellations looking down at me and smiling. “Does Artemis know who my dad is?” She shook her head, “If she did, she would tell the whole Olympian counsel and they would try and kill you. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.” I nodded, “Why can’t I tell that that you’re my mom and not Artemis? I know she’s probably not happy about people thinking she broke her oath.” Her smile disappeared off her face, “That’s your decision. Just please, don’t tell anyone who you father is.” I nodded slowly. For the rest of the night we talked, she even showed me how to use my moon powers, I could bend the moonlight to my will, sort of how a child of Hades would with shadows. She even showed me that I could do my own version of shadow traveling called moon traveling. As long as there is moonlight, I can travel to another place Aaa long as there moonlight there too. I could feel my eyes about to turn gold. My eyes widened. “I have to go. It’s almost day at Camp, I could moon travel there.” She nodded, “Of course. You might pass out after you get there, once the moonlight is gone, the exhaustion will wash over you.” I nodded, “Thank you for everything. I’ll visit you more often.” She nodded. I moon traveled back to Camp into “my cabin”. I felt my eyes turn gold, and the exhaustion from using my moon powers for the first time wash over me, and I passed out on the floor of cabin eight.

Chapter 1

My name is Olivia Lancaster. I grew up in the worst place imaginable. No, not Chicago, or New York City, but Tartarus. I grew up there because my parents are the Titans... you know what? You’ll figure out later. It technically makes me a Titan, but I have the smell of a demigod. How do I know? Well, a monster will smell me down here and be all like “Hey guys! Look! There’s a demigod in here! Let’s go get dinner!” And start to attack me, until they realized that it was just me. I think they have memorized my smell by now and know not to attack, let’s just say my dad is a powerful being. Anyways, I was hanging with my dad in our little house he has built in Tartarus in his millennia he has been down here. We were in the living room watching tv when he said, “I think it’s time I let you meet your mom in her home territory.” I turned my attention to him and looked into his golden eyes and asked him, “Really?!” He smiled and started to laugh. “Yes, I called her earlier and she thought it was a great idea. She got a friend of hers to pick you up. Now, I can’t leave Tartarus, but you can. Her friend will pick you up at Camp tomorrow night when she is making her rounds.” I looked at him with horror, “But I don’t belong there. I’m not a demigod.” His face softened, “I know, but they won’t know. Your mom will claim you and use her symbol, the moon, and they will all go straight to thinking her friend, Artemis.” I nodded, “I understand, Dad.” He smiled, “Let’s go pack.” We went back to my room, it was painted a dark, dark blue and the ceiling was painted with stars and a moon in the middle. On the wall behind my bed that was painted gold, was a silver sign that read, ‘I love you to the moon and back’ I packed some clothes and my phone, which I could use since I was a titan and if monsters caught me, they would recognize me and let me be. I also packed a soft blanket that had a pattern that looked like my ceiling on it.  I walked out of my room with my backpack on and said to my dad, “I’m packed.” He got up off the couch and told me, you best be off Tartarus-the being- is going to let you get out easily. He’ll show you the way.” I walked over to him and hugged him. I put my chin on the middle of his chest and looked up at his golden eyes and black hair, fearing it would be the last time I saw him. “I love you, I’ll visit often.” He nodded and pushed me away, “I knew you would. I love you too, Olivia.” I walked out the door and deeper into Tartarus, I looked behind me at our house, and hoped that this wouldn’t be the last time I saw the beautiful golden house. I could feel my eyes changing from silver to gold, and I knew that the sun was up now. Tomorrow night, I would get to meet my mom in her home territory, on the moon.

By the time I got out of Tartarus, I knew it was around noon. I walked out of the entrance to Tartarus, and covered my tees at the blinding light. It took a couple minutes to adjust. But you can’t blame me really, it was the first time I had ever been out of Tartarus. I took out my phone and went to the GPS app and put in Delphi Strawberry Farms. My dad had told me that that was the cover for Camp Half-Blood. The GPS said that it was a half hour walk. I looked online to see if there was a bus I could take, that turned up a dead end and I checked online for a cab, and I found one that would take me there, I called the number that it gave me and said, “Hey, I need a ride. I’m in Central Park and I need a ride to the tip of Long Island.” He told me, “Ok, give me a minute... I’ll be there in about 15 minutes. That will add up to $20.95 and take about 10 minutes to get there.” I told him, “Alright, I’ll see you then.” He hung up. I used my powers over time to make the time pass by quickly. In what felt like one minute, he was here. I got into the cab and paid him 3 drachmas and said, “Keep the change.” He looked at me weirdly and said, “I think you have the wrong currency.” I realized that they probably didn’t use golden drachmas in the real world. I told him, “I’m so sorry, see it’s my first time in America and I didn’t know that you had a different currency, on the bright side, that’s real gold. I hear it’s valuable here.” His brown eyes grew wide, “Ok then, I’ll just take you where you wanted to go and pretend this never happened, okay?” I nodded. He turned around in his seat and started driving. I used my powers over time again and in no time I was at Camp, “Are you sure this is where you wanted to go? There’s nothing here.” I nodded, and got out of the car. “Thank you.” I told him as I slung my backpack over my shoulder, he nodded, and drove off. I looked into the valley, I hope the barrier lets me in. I thought as I walked towards the barrier, when I walked right in the barrier with no problems, I was relieved and sighed of relief. I continued walking, and walked into the Big House. I took a deep breath and thought, Well, here goes nothing, as I knocked on the door. I heard the sound of hooves come close to the door. The door finally opened and I saw a middle aged man appear, from the waist down he was a white stallion horse. He asked me, “Who are you?” I looked down and said, “I’m Olivia Lancaster.” He took my chin and made me look at him, “How did you get here?” I looked into his brown eyes and said, “My dad sent me here.” He nodded,   “So, your dad is a mortal?” I looked down again and thought, Sorry Dad, “Yeah.” I told him, “And he told you what you are?” I nodded while looking down at my feet.  He yelled, “Annabeth!” I turned around to see a girl with startlingly gray eyes and blonde hair that was curly she said, “Yeah, Chiron?”  The horse-man-who I assumed was Chiron- said, “We have a newcomer. This is Olivia.” Annabeth walked up to me and said, “I’m Annabeth Chase. I’ll show you around camp.” I nodded and followed her. She showed me around until the horn blew signaling dinner. Annabeth turned to me, “Are you hungry?” I looked down and nodded as my stomach rumbled. “You’ll be eating and bunking with the Hermes cabin until you’re claimed.” I nodded and followed her as she lead me to the dining pavilion.

When we got to the dining pavilion, Annabeth pointed to the most crowded table, “That is where you’ll be eating.” I nodded, and walked over. I sat on the edge of the table and stayed there quietly.  Two twins got up from their spot and sat across from me, “Hey, I’m Travis, and this is Connor,” Connor waved, “Hey. We’re the counselors for the Hermes cabin, you’re new?” I nodded, Travis asked, “What’s your name?” I looked up at them and said, “Olivia.” They jumped a little in surprise, “Your eyes are gold.” I looked down and nodded.  I looked back up and saw that everyone had food and was scraping some of it into the fire, “Is the food that bad?” They looked at me, then to each other, then back to me. Connor spoke up, “Think about whatever food you would like and it will appear. Same with the drink. And then, we offer some to the gods. They like the smell.” I nodded, and thought about my most common meal in Tartarus, water and a burger. I cut my burger into two pieces, one piece was 1/3 big, the other 2/3.  I walked over to the fire and scraped the part of burger that sized 1/3 and whispered, “This is for you, dad.”  And I walked back to my seat. I sat down and started eating. I  finished in about ten minutes, and in another three my water was gone. Connor and Travis got the whole cabin, and brought us to the amphitheater.  We sat down, and Apollo cabin lead a sing-a-long. During the last song, my mom claimed me. Everyone started whispering about Artemis, but they where wrong. My mom was the Titan Phoebe. My mom’s friend is Artemis, who agreed reluctantly to go along with me being hers.

That night, I slept in cabin eight. And I had a dream. Not a demigod nightmare, but a visit with my dad.  We talked and talked. I told him how my day was, and he told me to be ready to go to see my mom tomorrow night. I won’t be staying there, but I would have to be ready for Artemis to come pick me up. I woke up, got dressed, and headed out the door, and prepared myself for questions about my mom “being Artemis”.

Chapter 3

I woke up in a white hospital like bed. I tried to sit up, but someone held me down, “You’re in no condition to get up. Lie down.” I lied back down. I looked over to see a boy with blond hair and blue eyes, who looked to be about ten. “Hi, I’m Olivia. What happened?” The boy looked up and said, “Hi I’m Will, son of Apollo. Percy brought you here early this morning, he told me he wanted to apologize to you, and when you didn’t answer the door he got worried. He saw you on the floor and brought you here- to the infirmary. Anyway, I heard you where the daughter of Artemis. What kind of lucky guy could win her over?” I closed my eyes-my version of looking down when I was lying down. He said quickly, “But you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to! A lot of demigods have messed up families.” I opened my eyes, “No, I want to tell you, Artemis, she’s not my mom.” Wills eyes widened, “Then who is?” I said, “I don’t belong here.” He  looked down, “Of course you do! Why wouldn’t you?” I took a deep breath, “My mom is not a god. Neither is my dad.” Wills head snapped up so fast I feared I had given him whiplash, “What? If your parents aren’t gods then how did you get in here?” I sighed, “My mom is a titan, the titan of the moon, Phoebe. Everyone assumed Artemis because of the moon, but it is Phoebe.” Will’s eyes widened, “Are you siding with the titans in the war?” I looked up at him in shock, “What war?”  Will relaxed a little, “The Titans are trying to destroy Olyimpus and rule the Greek world. It is all lead by the Lord of Time himself, Kronos. Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Tyson, and some girl named Rachel are in the Labyrinth now trying to stop him. Percy had brought you here, then left.” My eyes widened this time, “Kronos is leading this?” Will nodded. I told him, “I need to go.” His face morphed into one of shock, “You aren’t going to join him, are you?” I shook my head, “I’m going to slap him upside the head.” Will’s eyes widened, “No. I won’t let you, because one, you’re to weak, two, Chiron would never let you, and three, he’ll kill you.” I shook my head, “Not if I kill him first. Besides, he would never hurt me.” Will looked confused, “Why?” I closed my eyes and thought of the time I spent in Tartarus, “I grew up in Tartarus. I know him.” Will’s eyes widened, “You grew up in Tartarus? How did you survive?” I closed my eyes, “He grew fond of me and protected me. Now it’s my turn to protect him. Please, just let me do this. I could stop the war. Will nodded, and helped me out of bed, “Just, eat a piece of Ambrosia before you leave.” He said, pointing to a plate of squares that looked sort of like peanut butter fudge. I nodded. I grabbed a piece, and headed out the door.

When I was outside, I saw that it was really bright out, it must have been noon. I walked to the shore to calm myself down. I was really angry at my dad! He’s trying to take over freaking Olympus! Did he put me here so I could be his little spy on what they where doing? I love my dad, he’s great, but I will not go along with this! I need to talk some sense into him. Starting by slapping him upside the head. I walked into the water to calm down. I saw that the moon was still out for some reason, and since as far as I knew it had went down this morning, so I figured that I had been out for at least a day. I used some moonlight and wrapped it around me, and tried to become “one with the moonlight” and imagined going to my home in Tartarus.

When I got there I was tired, so I ate some of the ambrosia that was conveniently located in my pocket.  When I took a bite it tasted like my favorite comfort food, moon pies. They are a rare treat down here, and yes, I mostly like it because of the moon part. When the ambrosia square was gone, I felt like 100%. I walked up to the door, and I knocked. Yes, I knocked on the door of an evil villain who just happens to be my father. “Come in!” I heard I turned the doorknob and walked in. “Hey Dad, I need to talk to you.” He got up off the couch and walked over to me, “Olivia! What are you do-ow!” I slapped him upside the head. “What the Hades where you thinking?!” My dad looked down, “How’d you figure out?”  I looked into his golden eyes and said, “Oh, I don’t know, maybe because the kids at Camp are preparing for war?” I lied, I didn’t want to tell him that someone out of the blue just told me! “I swear I was going to tell you when you visited me in your dreams tonight!” I shook my head, “You were going to use me as a spy, weren’t you?” I nodded, “I don’t know who else to trust.” His form shimmered, and he smiled, evily? What is going on with Dad? “I have to go, I am finally back in one piece, not just a part of my essence, the kind part to look after you. I’m back, and I need to take down Olympus.” I shook my head, “You’ll never win.” And with that, he whisked me away to Camp. I had landed in the dining pavilion. In the middle of dinner. How was I going to explain this?
