Why Am i Here

“Why am I here?” Rick asked himself.

“I am here to tell you that Tiger has killed your wife Mary Vacanti,” the other Rick said with amazing self-assurance.

In a weird kind of way, he was almost happy about it. He felt a weight lifted off his shoulders when he got the surprising news. “And your child Rick Vacanti Jr. died in the war and your other child  Judy Gardner died from the Smallpox disease,” the other Rick said in anger with a mix of sadness.

“What about my Tiger, is he okay? Please tell me he’s okay,” Rick asked anxiously.

“He’s fine, but he has a new family now,” the other Rick replied.

He felt that all of his internal organs fell to his stomach. He has no emotions anymore. His emotions were like the night that never had a sunrise. This was like the Great Tribulation, it was a disaster. His wife dying is fine, at least he won’t have to deal with her termagant behaviors, but his children Rick Vacanti Jr., Judy Gardner, and his dog Tiger is a different story.

Just a Dream

The thunder growled like an angry man as Rick cried quietly. The air smelled of fresh rain, the scent was bittersweet to him. The rain felt cold on his bloodless skin. Rick looked at his clammy hands in disgust, he turned towards the other Rick, and all he could hear was the rain trickling down from the sky, and the other Rick screaming, “Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!”.

He woke up only to realize he is in his bed, and the thunder and rain he heard were coming from outside. Rick’s despair flourished when he realized that the person that was telling him to wake up wasn’t the other Rick, but none other than his wife Mary Vacanti.
