Tea? (Ew)

He was still quite annoyed. How could he not be after this woman, who Gerard mentally named Karen, walked in and asked for the manager after being denied a caramel iced coffee? His efforts of explaining to the rather rude customer that they were out of caramel at the moment and would be for the next hour or so going completely out the window.

Thankfully, the manager seemed to be on his side but still managed to nicely explain to her what Gerard had spent the last few minutes trying to explain. Which was frustrating since the customer seemed to understand the manager a lot better as if she had to hear it from the higher authority in order for the statement to be correct.

Although Karen cooled down a bit and stopped trying to argue the fact that the employees were somehow hiding the caramel, she was still pretty pissed and left. Leaving Gerard to ask himself as to why she couldn't just leave the whole caramel thing and order something else. Actually she was gone now and he decided that this was better, much better than her still being here anyway.

She may be gone, but he had a tendency to hold grudges for a surprisingly long amount of time if he wanted. The whole incident leaving him everything but cheerful and happy, which was what his manager told him to act like before heading to the back to do whatever managers do. The thought of whatever his manager was doing was enough to distract him for a bit before his attention was brought to the front after the little bell on top of the glass doors rang, indicating a new customer.

The young-looking guy that was now walking towards him was attractive, Gerard decided. He was actually starting to already feel better, that is, until the guy spoke.

"Well, you look like you're having a bad day." Now, that wasn't something he would normally get mad about, not really. But the only thing he could think of at that moment was the audacity the guy had to just point out how bad Gerard looked at the moment. How was he supposed to react? Laugh? Thank him? He didn't know.

One thing he did know though, was pissed.

Gerard also knew when he started to get a bit heated, so he managed to bite his tongue and instead offer a subtle, but fed up nonetheless, eye roll to the stranger in front of him. Frank, well he wasn't letting this unnecessary rudeness he was receiving from the black-haired man that was supposed to be nice and greet him instead of rolling his eyes, just pass. But he wasn't going to start a scene either.

Gerard clearly thought he was being subtle with the rude gesture, that is, until the stranger made yet another comment.

"Y'know, if you keep rolling your eyes like that, they'll eventually stay that way." The stranger said, and Gerard could tell he was trying to be serious but clearly failing the battle with the smile that was becoming increasingly bigger the more the two men stared at each other.

Eventually, Gerard just scoffed at the man and asked: "What can I help you with today?" In the most bored and fed up voice Frank's ever heard. Really, he didn't know if he should be offended or not by how disinterested the man at the counter sounded by him already. Not that he was expecting anything more than the normal greet and service from him, but a guy could hope.

He ordered his tea, which Gerard was clearly not fond of considering the disgusted look on his face the second Frank said "tea". Then tried to form his face into a more neutral expression after that but Frank still saw the disgust on his face and debated for a while if he should report it. However, he decided not to and just took his tea and left the small coffee shop. He decided that he had better things to do than be in the same atmosphere as the rude black-haired guy.

Seeing the stranger walk out of the shop, Gerard couldn't help but be immensely thankful. The same feeling of relief coming over him just like when the woman from earlier left.

Frank walked the path leading to his small apartment and briefly wondered if the man at the counter could have spat in his drink. But that's ridiculous, he thought, so he took a big much-needed sip of his very delicious tea. "Tea is good, fuck him," Frank mumbled to himself as he entered the clutter of his apartment.

...

"Lindsey! I'm heading out!" Gerard called out to his manager just as his shift was over. The shop is no longer full, but empty and kind of dull now that the sun wasn't out to shine through the windows.

"Alright, take care!" Lindsey called out from the back, finishing off her manager's duties.

Gerard was about to leave, but the second his hand touched the doorknob he remembered that his brother is probably hungry and he knows for a fact that there isn't any food at the house. Him working at a coffee shop that also sells delicious pastries and coming home not bringing his hungry brother anything back would be just mean of him. Plus, he could already see his brother's face of disappointment if he comes home without anything to eat.

Mikey wouldn't say anything, of course, being the nice person that he is.

Gerard being an employee here also meaning he gets a small discount for basically anything. Of course, he was going to take advantage of it and get something for his brother, and okay, something for himself too.

After brewing himself a coffee he briefly remembered the conversation with the stranger earlier who ordered tea instead of coffee and also suddenly remembered why exactly coffee is better than tea, he shook his head, got his bag-full of pastries, and left.
