Blogs are used as diaries, news feeds, and commentary columns. Anyone with some knowledge of what a blog is can have a blog but having a blog that drives traffic takes skill and patience.    

Blogs Can be Business Cards  

A blog should be high traffic to be considered successful, but sometimes they can be a means to an end. If, for example, you are a writer and want to showcase your writing, a blog is a perfect way to do this. It becomes your calling card or your electronic business card. It may not be high traffic if you are just starting out as a writer and are unknown, but as your popularity increases, so will your blog traffic.    

Utilize Social Media

Social media, like Facebook and Myspace, are good ways to showcase your blog. You can post links to your blog on your site and on other people’s sites. Just don’t be obnoxious about it and post to every person you know. Be specific about your audience. If you have someone, who can write my essays online and in your friends list who likes dogs and you wrote a blog about dogs, submit a posting to them. However if you wrote about zombies, don’t post it to your friend’s site that hates horror movies.    

Make an Email Signature

In most email accounts you can create a signature that will appear at the end of every email. Create one that includes your blog. Every email that you send will be an advertisement to your blog. Go a step further and send out an email about your blog to everyone you feel it is appropriate to send to in your contacts. Ask them to check it out, leave comments, and give you feedback.    

Blogs With Purpose

Your blog should be specific to a certain genre or subject. If you love music and know a lot about it, showcase that in a blog. You can be even more specific and pick a genre of music like country or rap, or pick a band that you really like and write about them.   

Many successful blogs are news oriented. They include the latest news stories and commentary on the news. It's important to stay up to date in order to maintain a news blog. If you know a lot about what’s going on in the world, tell the world about it.    

Blogs can be used to showcase your talent, write about your passion, or be a record of your travels. The most successful blogs are specific about their content.
