Chapter 1: Through the Door

Delila stepped through the door cautiously. When she made it all the way through she was surrounded by darkness. When she turned around she couldn’t see the wall which the others could see through, she could only see darkness that way. She began to walk, blundering forward. “First, happiness,” said Vareth. So the world inside the door moulded, green feilds rolling out in front of her. The sun shining down and everything perfect down to the smallest ant or leaf. This went on for a moment before Vareth called out, “Let’s change this, how about a little fear?” And the hills disappeared. Darkness crowded around and scraping filled the room. Slithering, scraping and scales. Out of the shadow came a snake slithering up to Delila. Suddenly like a rabbit she stopped, then bounded towards the door. Slamming it behind her. “I guess that’s the end for your time,” studied Vareth. “Let me go next!” Demanded Lark. “No,” he said looking over. “Blaze can go next.”

Blaze walked through the door, as he looked behind him he could only see the door. Nothing else, wall, room or otherwise. Turning back around he hear a few muttered words from behind him. They didn’t pass through the door well enough for him to hear it. However, as he was about to return through the door a forest took shape. He walked through the forest behind his house. He was caught up in the atmosphere when he recognised the trees, something familiar. He heard a call from a house, then he remembered. He began to run, faster and faster, to get to his house in time. Time to save them. He burst out of the tree line and he saw his house. He didn’t even think to slow down as he slammed into the door. But it didn’t budge. Shattering pain shivered up his arm, it it did not slow him. He ran to the window and tried to slam it. It did not shatter, it did not move or break. He could watch though, watch as history repeated itself. He saw his mother and father, his father stood with his cutting axe. His mother behind him. The man stood there, a face all to easy to remember. His vicious smile and flaming eyes. He drew out his blade. He flicked it forward carelessly, sending the axe flying. His father charged the man, grabbing his arm and twisting it until it broke and hung loose by his side, his unnatural strength shattering every bone in the man’s arm. Blaze punched at the glass pane and slammed it. But the man just laughed, and his free arm used his sword to stab into his father’s stomach. The man’s arm began to twist and twitch, until it moved back into place and healed. The man smiled his vicious smile before advancing. “Stop it Vareth! Stop the memory!” shouted Delila, her voice muffled from behind the door, “I can’t Blaze is making it go, I have no control anymore.” His mother’s hands started to smoke with a green haze slightly. The mist turned into a green flame which she threw towards the man. Blackened holes appeared in him, the skin burned away. But he continued to advance, the holes covering themselves up. Blaze clawed at the pane. “Blaze return to the door!” Now came Vareth’s voice. But the man slashed across his mother’s torso. The man turned his flaming eyes and vicious, laughing, smile to Blaze. Staring him in the eye. But Blaze’s vision disappeared and he felt numb and a tug at the back of his shirt.

Chapter 2: Worried Faces

Blaze awoke to Delila and Caren’s worried faces. “Blaze. Your awake,” came Caren’s familiar voice. “Blaze! Your and absolute idiot!” Complained Delila as soon as she realised he was awake. “You should have listened to Vareth!” She continued nervously. “What happened?” Asked Blaze. “Vareth said that the memory was to real and it rendered you unconscious in The Room of Lands. He ran in and dragged you out.” Replied Vareth. Blaze nodded, it matched what he remembered. Slowly Blaze sat up and stood, but as he did his head was hit with a spike of pain. “Steady!” Said Delila. “Wait, Delila. If your here where is the rest of the group?” Asked Blaze, realising that she was the only member of her group there. “Ummm, no one else wanted to come so I went. I tried to get the rest to come but they wanted to stay. Also! We get the rest of the day off! And Vareth left after he knew you were okay.” She blurted out, looking down. Blaze smiled, “Thanks.” Blaze began to move, he winced from the memory of what was behind the door. Delila waved goodbye and moved down the corridor as Blaze moved to his room, Caren following behind. “You are definitely stirring up the school,” stated Caren as they walked. “Why?” Asked Blaze confused. “Well first of all you get the highest rating possible, which has never been accomplished before. Then rumours are spreading that your past is so horrible that if anyone watches it they pass out, as you did. Then when Vareth carried you to the Academy hospital a person swore your hands had a green mist swirling around them.” Replied Caren. Blaze remembered his mother’s magic. “The last one was a rumour,” Blaze continued as they arrived at his room. Caren shrugged, “Are you really sure?”

Chapter 3: Rumours

Blaze got up, he refused to even look at where the picture of him and his family was hidden. He got dressed and left the room as fast as possible. It was early, the time when the early rising students just began to trickle in to the breakfast room. So that’s where Blaze headed. The students around him looked at him as he walked past. They whispered things to each other, but never tried to catch his attention. He pushed through the doors to a high roofed room. It was a highly decorated area, arches reaching over the roof and many different tables lining the walls and the middle. He grabbed the breakfast food which consisted of two apples and some bread and butter. He counted the tables as he went past until he reached the thirty seventh. He sat down and waited. Finally Caren walked in, not late, Blaze had been really early. He picked up his own food and moved to the table, “You remembered the table number,” he said surprised. Blaze smiled, “What do you do today?” He asked. “Oh, just some magic practice, what about you?” Replied Caren. “I don’t really know. We weren’t told yesterday with all the stuff.”

They ate and talked, after about twenty minutes Caren had to leave. Blaze waved goodbye and figured his class would start soon as well. As he walked down the corridor Marthen appeared, made a straight line towards Blaze. “Hey, pay up,” demanded Marthen, holding out his hands. “Why? I didn’t do anything,” asked Blaze looking around for an escape. There was an exit behind him, or he could wait till the morning bell rang and everyone would have to move to class, then he would be able to disappear. “Don’t you remember? You stole my golden royal. You better give it back, or I will take it from you myself.” Demanded Marthen. Blaze smiled as he saw a teacher walking up behind Marthen. “That would be bad wouldn’t it,” taunted Blaze. Looking closer he realised that in fact it was Sienna walking down the hall. She was wearing a teacher’s uniform, she must be a teacher herself. Marthen raised a fist, “Pay up now!” He growled. “Marthen, should I report you to one of the head teachers for  violent actions?” Said Sienna calmly. Marthen spun around and grumbled, “No miss.” Marthen walked away, glaring at Blaze as if to say he would get him back. Blaze walked by Sienna, “Thanks, sorry about the fake name.” “It’s okay, people are talking a lot about you. That draws unwanted attention, be careful.”
