ACT I

They say time is an illusion,

Some false perception,

Some method of managing human life,

But we get old,

What does this mean?

Are our seconds an infinity,

That equal immortality?

Are we immortal as a consequence?

Strings

"Fate is a silly concept."

I thought about it one cloudy afternoon,

As I watched the cat tumble around,

And tug at a ball of string.

Naturally,

I'd agree,

But I don't.

In this universe,

There are multiple strings,

Each of which pull us towards the lives we lead.

Family,

Friends,

lovers,

Each controlling our actions,

Just like puppets.

In a sense,

Fate is just a ball of string,

Keeping us upright,

Until we managed to tangle ourselves,

In the yarn of another.
