A Break From The 'Same Old, Same Old

CHAPTER 1 | Break From The 'Same Old, Same Old'

Angel sighed as Sophy, another girl who bullied her tirelessly, stuck out her tongue at Angel. She rolled her eyes and turned away. It wasn't anything new. In fact, she was so used to it that she ignored all of that gross. Her life had been this way since she remembered. All her classmates hated her with everything in their being. Why, she never really got to know. Even the teachers acted just as immature. It was too unnerving. She was put in the utmost corner of the class with no partner at all. It was no wonder, since no one cared to sit with her. She liked to think that it was because they never dared to sit with someone like her. Whenever she passed by them, they would try to not-so-subtly stay far from her. It was like they might catch a contagious allergy if they went near. They just looked down upon her, ever since she came to that school. But the reason always remained a mystery. No one ever EVER came near her, let alone talk. It had hurt once, twice, thrice; but not anymore. She had learned not to let anyone in. And Angel Freed was very good in doing that.

She zoned out of whatever their teacher was currently lecturing them about, man, someone should really start arresting teachers who spoke for too long. It was very annoying! She began scribbling in her notebook. It was one of her routine pass-times. Suddenly she noticed a movement out of the corner of her eye. She raised her head. Someone had come inside the class. A deep frown creased her forehead when she saw that it was a new student. God, now there was another new person to annoy the life out of her. Seriously, weren't all the maniacs in her class already enough?

She heard the teacher introduce the student, but she didn't really catch his name. She wasn't exactly curious to know. Heck, who would be, when that person was going to be one those who would torture them in future? From beneath her lashes, she saw the teacher scan the classroom for an empty space. All of a sudden, her eyes landed on Angel. Angels eyes widened. Oh no.

The teacher looked at Lovely Eyes. Angel grimaced when she caught the nick name shed given the person. Hahaha Very funny. NOT.

"You can sit beside Miss.Freed." she pointed to Angel. He nodded.

Shit.

She. Was. Doomed.

She buried her face in her hands and groaned. Not fair! Even before she lifted her head, she could feel the glares burning holes through her head. Now they had all the more reason to hate her with all their damned guts. Would her awful life ever EVER see good days??

She facepalmed and lowered her gaze to her textbook. What happened, happened. Fate wasn't on her side. When the freaking hell was it, anyway? Never. The new student made his way to her and sat down on the place beside hers. She didn't want to look up. Afraid she'd embarrass herself. As if she wasn't embarrassed enough. Pfft, that was bloody life for you, mate. You never got to have a say in anything. Literally ANYthing. Besides, she'd always been a damn use and throw to everyone, right? People just intruded into her life for their issues. Not because they wanted to help. Never because they cared for her. It wasn't a surprise anymore. Wasn't as big a pain in the ass as it had been at first. Time passed, and so had Angel. She didn't have time for bypassers. She barely had time for herself.

All through the period, there'd been no drama. Add some glares from the bitchy girls, but that was a regular. Nothing much. So as soon as the bell rang, she was the first one to get out of the class. You know why? No? well, it was lunch time. One of the rarest times of the day when she was supposedly left in peace; and she didn't intend on wasting even a single minute of it. As she was entering the café, someone roughly pushed past her. The push was so hard that Angel was falling. She closed her eyes and waited for the fall. It never came. She slowly opened her eyes, only to be met with a gaze waiting to be met with hers.

She swallowed hard as she stared into the unfamiliar gaze. It was piercing, yet so soft at the same time. Wow. Angel never knew that eyes could be so beautiful. She was lost in the gaze for a few moments until she shook herself. She licked her lips. "Thanks," she said gruffly as she continued staring into his eyes. Her breath hitched at their close proximity, but she couldn't bring herself to move.

He smiled at her. "You're welcome." He helped her stand upright and shifted his gaze to the person who pushed Angel. "Next time, watch where you're going." He growled.

Angel looked past him to the person who pushed her. She didn't wonder when she saw that it was Annie.

"It wasn't my fault. Tell that to that clumsy scum you helped." Annie retorted with a glare.

"Keep lying to yourself, girl." The new student spat. "It isn't as if anyone's going to believe you." With that, he pulled Angel away from there. Needless to say, she was in shock. It was the first time ever in history that someone stood up for her pathetic self. She actually couldn't believe it.

As soon as they were out of earshot from everyone, he spoke up, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. T-T-Thanks again," She stuttered a bit.

"No big deal." He said shortly. "What's your name?"

"What's yours?" Angel wasn't going to back down. She was just caught off guard. That was it. Nothing else. She was back to herself.

He chuckled. "Save. Micah Save."

She half-smiled at him. "Freed. Angel Freed." She stretched her hand out for him. "Thanks for your help, Mikey."

He raised an eyebrow in amusement as he engulfed her hand with his own. "Stop saying thank you. And, Mikey?"

Angel grinned. "Okay I will. Yeah. Mickey." She confirmed. "Like it?"

He displayed her grin. "Yes. No one ever called me that."

"Ever?"

"Ever."

"No one?"

Micah shook his head. "No one," he confirmed.

Angels grin widened. "Mikey it is then," she winked.

"Will you tell me your name now?" He asked, laughing.

"I already did."

"You did?"

She nodded her head.

"I didn't hear."

She rolled her eyes playfully. "Freed. Angel Freed."

He paused.

"For real?"

"For real." She echoed.

He smiled. "I like it."

"Thanks."

"So I wanted to ask if you wanted to have lunch with me."

"Me?" Angel asked, gobsmacked.

"Mhmm.." He nodded his head.

"Uhhh," Angel didn't know what to say. When she was alone, she managed to stick to the corners and stay in the shadows. But with a handsome feller in tow, she didn't think that was anywhere near possible. "Okay. But, I don't know where to sit."

He grinned at her happily. "I'll take you somewhere then."

He didn't even wait for her reply. He just grabbed her arm, making a somersault-circus throw a party in her stomach, and led her to his car.

Angel was speechless.

She was a girl from the corners.

She didn't belong with people like this.

She already started having regrets agreeing with Mikey.

But, she knew that it was HER life, and she could do anything she chose to do with it. It was in her hands what type if stage she created for herself. She shouldn't hold back because she was afraid of the outcome. No. That's not what she was meant to do. She was meant to be free. Young and free.

Little did she know, corners were meant for creativity. Shadows were meant for having fun. Life was meant to live; and it was time someone made her take a break from the Same old, Same old.
