Stay aware

The strong wind blew my long, luscious hair and strands were dangling over my eyes, blocking half of my sight.Dead leafs crunched under my feet and I could hear the birds rush from tree to tree. The sun was almost set.I had to get home before dark. The woods is the place that I would go when my head was flooded with thoughts.Although, this time it wasn't the same.Something didn't feel right.Usually, you could hear children giggling and playing hide and seek from afar...and there was this man who would walk his dog around this area everyday-no matter the weather. What is going on?The wind threw something at me.It was a piece of material-light blue coloured. It had come out of nowhere.I examined it but there was nothing.I placed it on the floor and hoped it didn't mean anything. The woods was completely silent. No people,no birds,no dogs...Nothing but silence.Atleast that's what I thought. In the distance,I saw a man figure. His appearance was a blur as he wasn't close enough for me to see.He approached me.My mind screamed "run" but my curiosity got the best of me and my feet refused to move.

"What's a pretty little girl like you doing out here so late?",the strange man asked.

I didn't know what to say to him.

"I-I come here a lot,at this time",I replied.

I swallowed empty air and waited anxiously for his reply. He hesitated.

"Haven't you heard?".

He asked me.I had no idea what he was talking about. My heart was racing as I started to become more and more anxious.

"Heard what?".

I asked him, waiting patiently for him to tell me.

"About the man?Theres a criminal on the loose. They say he's still wandering this woods today. He likes to kidnap little children and take them to his cottage in the dark and isolated part of the woods. You shouldn't be out here at this time, you're an easy target".He replied.

This man was giving me bad vibes. It was obvious I couldn't trust him.How would he even know this information?I instantly knew I had to leave.

"Oh okay.Thanks,I'll stay aware".I replied.

"Yes.You better watch out.".

The man cackled. His evil laugh rang through my ears.I started to run home.I looked back and the man stood staring at me,still laughing.I tried to take no notice and ran all the way home.
