My Panda Feels Anxious
This is my Panda.
Today My Panda is feeling ANXIOUS.
That means My Panda is worried about things that might happen today.
Like what if My Panda gets the yucky green ice cream instead of the good pink ice cream?
What if all our good clothes are dirty and we have to wear old boring ones?
Or what if my favorite teddy goes missing and we never find him again?
Even worse, what if we just don't get to do what we wanted to today?!
This puts a bad feeling in My Panda's tummy.
Feeling anxious can make My Panda act out by throwing a fit or becoming very uncooperative.
I tell My Panda to take a deep breath and grab his fun-fetti jar.
Once My Panda is calm I tell him,
"There are things we can't control, but we can talk about our plan for today."
I tell My Panda step by step what our plans are.
We make sure Teddy is safe and that we have fun clothes to wear.
We talk about where we are going and that if we behave nicely we will definitely get the good pink ice cream.
My Panda feels better now. We put the fun-fetti jar down and get ready to start our day.
Do you ever feel anxious?
If you do, try taking a deep breath and ask someone what you're doing today.
Tell them what you are worried about.
To feel better, sometimes all you need is a plan and a fun-fetti jar to feel calm again.
HOW TO MAKE A FUN-FETTI JAR:
Things you will need:
Hot water
A Jar or Bottle
Chunky and Fine Glitter
2 tbs Glitter Glue or Clear Glue (Use extra glitter if using clear glue)
Food Coloring (Optional)
Sequins/Small plastic beads (Optional)
1. Put 1 Cup of Hot water into jar .
2. Follow up with 2 tblsp of Glue
3. Whisk to break up glue.
4. Add fine glitter until there is 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of glitter on the bottom of the jar
5. Add more water, leaving an inch of space at the top for shaking room.
6. Add Chunky glitter and optional sequins/beads/1 drop of food coloring.
7. Glue on Lid.
TADA!!! You're done!
Use your fun-fetti jar to help calm down when things seem out of control.
My Panda Feels Mad
This is My Panda.
Today My Panda is feeling MAD.
Why is My Panda mad?
I don't know.
My Panda won't use words to tell me.
Sometimes when My Panda is mad it screams, cries, or just growls.
Other times My Panda won't say anything at all.
My Panda will just pout and cross it's arms.
I tell My Panda "Let's calm down and talk about it. Take a deep breathe and count to Five."
My Panda takes a big deep breathe and counts 1...2...3...4...5
My Panda is feeling much calmer and holds my hands so we can talk about what is making My Panda mad.
Oh. I see. My Panda didn't get what it wanted.
My Panda wanted to go to the park, but everyone is too busy today to take us.
"That's okay Panda. Sometimes things don't go as we wanted, but we can turn it around and find something fun to do."
My Panda and I looked for something to do, but Panda said all the toys had already been played with.
We asked a grown up and they gave us supplies to make easy play clay.
It was easy to calm down when we acted like scientists to create the best play clay and squeeze all our mad out.
Then when it was done, we made lots of fun sculptures.
How do you calm down when you're mad?
Try and squish your mad out with play clay!
HOW TO MAKE EASY PLAY CLAY

- 1 1/2 Cups of Salt
- Food Coloring
