The New NORM

You might recall a character called Norm.
Life. Be in it. the official slogan
A stereotyped average Australian.
No longer valid there is a new Norm.
I am the new norm. It’s better this way.
The Aussie future is bright cause I’m OK
I am arrogant, brazen young and free
Do what feels good, no boundaries for me
Started my life in a laboratory.
My egg was planted in surrogacy.
Two moms I have, isn’t that divine
I have never met them but that is just fine
I’m told I don’t need them. I’m normal without
There has never been any room for doubt
Two dads I have who cared and provided
When they broke up, my time was divided
That’s nothing weird, most families are split
Tests could show which of their sperm was most fit
I am myself and that’s OK. I am normal. So they say.
Look around at the old boring family
A mum, a dad, maybe a child or two
Fighting, arguments and sibling rivalry
Hair pulling and wearing the other’s shoe
Character building, life lessons, not me
That family norms a museum or zoo
Better this new way, It’s open and free
I did not get bullied or pushed at school
They wouldn’t dare, It’s called discrimination
Avoid any risk, wrap me up in cotton wool
Off to employment, great for the nation
Expect me to work? No way, I’m no fool
Productivity needs explanation
I’m not born boy. I’m not born girl. I choose
I like boys, I like girls, I just can’t loose
Cross dressing, transgender, bi, or just straight
Morals can’t judge, you have to tolerate
Not a woman. Not a man. I’m not confused?
This freedom I have, perhaps not so great?
The new norm wanted is sexual fluidity
Therapist says freedom of sexuality
Five times a day I view pornography
One day I’ll settle for monogamy
Salvage from selfish ambiguity
And Emotional immaturity
Curious crazy kind of normalcy
I am not at fault, no one is to blame
Ethics are absent in this serious game
Turned our backs on God the Bible & church
Left to ourselves society will lurch
Toward a tsunami a monster storm
It’s fine, I’m OK. It’s just the new norm
