Chapter 1

Is anyone ever ready, to pledge their allegiance, until death, to rule a nation and it's people? Osyla, a smaller nation surrounded by many oceans, finds itself in the middle of a crisis.

"It's time your majesty," The Bishop stated.

"But I'm not ready!" Annalise replied.

"I know, but we must not keep your people waiting."

"Alright, let's go," Annalise replied, making her way out the door and into the corridor leading to the front entrance of the cathedral.

"You're going to make a rather fine Queen, your Majesty." The Bishop reaffirmed.

"Why thank you, Bishop."

"Of course, your Majesty." The Bishop replied.

Both were silent as they finished the walk to the entrance. Once they arrived, the Bishop parted ways to take his position in the hall. Well, I guess it's time, Annalise thought. Just then she heard the sounds of the organ piano and the double oak doors opened into a packed hall.

The next thing Annalise could recall was the Bishop placing the crown on her head, and making her repeat after him.

"Are you willing to take the oath?" The bishop asked.

"I am able and willing," Annalise affirmed.

"Do you swear to govern the people of Osyla according to the law?"

"I swear."

"Do you swear to the best of your ability to maintain the law? Will you establish new and just law, and follow the doctrine of the nation?"

"I swear to the best of my ability," Annalise swore, as she took the golden staff and stood from the seat she was sitting in.

"Before those present I make these promises and oaths. So help me God."

"I confirm these oaths of Queen Annalise." The bishop stated.

Annalise was relieved the ceremony was finished but knew that her responsibility was just beginning. Her first order of business was to find out who killed her parents, and what they want. But first she needed to make her first speech as Queen.

"Just a few short month ago," Annalise began, "We as a nation saw senseless tragedy, which was felt by all us. The bombing that took place in the heart of Bellkeep took away many of those who we love and care about. It will be my first act as your Queen to find out who carried out these attacks and get justice for us all. Bless the nation of Osyla."

Short and to the point, Annalise thought. As she made her way down the aisle to the entrance of the hall, the organ piano began to play the national anthem.

Just outside the entrance waited a large black Cadillac SUV, it was Annalise's favourite mode of transportation.

"We're ready your Majesty." Alfred, Annalise's head of security said, as they entered the SUV.

"Wonderful we need to hurry and make our way to the castle," Annalise said.

"Of course your Majesty, but we were supposed to participate in the parade."

"I don't care about the damn parade, I have something I need to take care of right now."

"Yes, your Majesty."

"Oh and there is something that you can help me with."

"Anything your Majesty."

"We need to quickly build a sort of wall around the castle. I remember reading about something called a bastion but make it out of the most durable stone."

"Okay but I must advise against it, I think it will look like we are trying to distance ourselves from the people of the city."

"That is exactly what I want them to think."

"But your Majesty." Alfred pleaded.

"Just do it," Annalise yelled.

"Yes, your Majesty."

It is always so nice to come back to the Castle, after being away even if it was just a mere couple of hours.

"Your Majesty, we have an issue." Tristen the Viceroy of Waterford said.

"Always coming to me with you problems, you are the Viceroy are you not?" Annalise remarked.

"Yes your Majesty, but someone has escaped."

"What?" Annalise exclaimed.

"Exactly, we don't know how they were able to get off the island."

"The whole reason we wanted the Asylum on the island was so that these things would not happen."

"I understand, but the patient is a threat to themselves and everyone around them."

"When did the escape?"

"Three weeks ago."

"Three weeks ago, and you are just coming to wee with this information!" Annalise screamed.

"I'm sorry your Majesty we wanted to be absolutely positive before we came to you."

"Well, is there any possible way that they could be connected to the bombing?"

"It is very possible."

"My God!" Annalise exclaimed. "I need as much information about this person as you have, and I need it now!"

"Right away your Majesty," Tristen replied.

"You're dismissed," Annalise stated.

How could this be happening? Annalise thought. Just mere hours into her reign and everything could be falling apart right in front on her eyes
