the hill to heaven
Introduction
The hill to heaven
Ragged and wiry the hill slopes
Upwards, towards the sky
With every step I feel closer to heaven,
Closer to you,
Harsh undergrowth
Gently scattered with and softened
By wild flowers,
Purple orange yellow and blue,
Gum tree branches heave in the wind,
An eerie whistle produced
By dagger leaves,
Rocks protrude violently
Erupting from the earths soil,
While foxes scurry amongst them,
Sly and sneaky thieves
This land, so dangerous and raw
Is actually a home
A safe- haven to the animals
That survives within,
So whenever you’re feeling alone,
Unsure as to where you belong,
Step into our wild Australian bush,
And you may just find this is where
You fit in.
