Author’s Note

Hey, welcome to my short novel. Actually, it’s not very short. But then again, it’s not long. Honestly, you should probably skip this authors note before you think “Damn, this book gonna be boring as hell.” Well, anyway — If you’re still reading — I’m gonna go by the pen name, Cold The Author. I think it sounds dope, so fuck all the haters. Back on topic; This story is about a boy named Romardo, and his one love — Makayla Patterson. They’ve been in the same class together since grade one, so let’s find out how the Up’s & Down’s of Romardo’s Romance. Have fun, and don’t get too emotionally attached to any characters, or the book. — I’m not planning a sequel. (maybe, I might, just to trick you? Who knows? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.)

Mexico

My name’s Romardo Hernandez. My family has a dark past, but I’m not going to talk about it for now, because we’re in the present. Madre — Sorry, I mean Mother — always told me I was a positive kid, and then there’s my sister, Valentina, or just Val for short, says I’m too optimistic, and of course, I always get her mad because I call her an illegal immigrant. Rude? Well, it’s the truth. I’m fourteen, and I live in New Brunswick, Canada. Welcome to my life story.

My parents crossed the border — sorry, TWO borders, to get out of Mexico. First, they went into the United States, and then all the way up north to Canada. Easy? I want you to try. From busses, to trains, to cars, to more busses, they got me out of Mexico. Now, me, I’m not illegal. Why? Well, I was born in  Canada. Mother actually found out she was pregnant with me when she was halfway across the States, which is what she tells me as her idea of a “funny story”Oh well, as long as Mother is happy, I am too.

Guess I was made in the USA      outside of some Bus Terminal.
