I've been writing full-time now for over three years. I self-published a wild, somewhat literary novel in 2012, BEYOND THE WILL OF GOD -- a mystery/thriller centered on music, exploring the power of the creative mind and cosmic consciousness. I also published two collections of short stories, IMPLOSIONS OF AMERICA & also TRYING TO CARE. You can find all my published books at most online stores.
My novel-in-progress here at Tablo is MUSIC FOR NEW CREATURES. It is about identity, young love, coming-of-age, family secrets, speaking truth to the world, and not being afraid of letting others be themselves. Fall in love with Ivy Scattergood and her quirky family. Be amazed by their fearless transgender cousin, Rita Gomez.
I was a part-time freelancer for over 30 years while working full-time as an environmental consultant. Besides all the fiction I write these days, I publish a column called "Talking Indies" at http://TalkingWriting.com. You can read some of my TW work here: http://talkingwriting.com/tw-channels-and-categories/talking-indie
I live in Philadelphia with my wife. Our three sons, all in their 20s, visit us regularly and still call the purple house they grew up in "home." I love baseball, gourmet cooking, all music (loud), and hiking regularly in the woods near our house. My favorite authors these days are Mat Johnson, Haruki Murakami, Annie Dillard, Tony Doerr, Lydia Davis, and Barry Hannah.
If you go to my website and nose around, you'll find a blog post I did a few years ago putting the question of The Greatest Living American Novelist to rest. Hint: Her name is Toni Morrison.
