Prologue

The streets were quiet and eerie as Midnight Blue stalked through the shadows of the houses that were Looming over her head, she gazed up at the night sky, regretting what she was about to do, but she did not have a choice, the curse was becoming too much for her to handle anymore and she had to pass it on before it completely destroyed her all together.

A babies cry echoed through the streets and tears were close to spilling out of Midnights eyes and down her cheeks, she hated herself for what she was about to do and hated the reason as to why she had to do it.

Midnight followed the sound of the babies cry, to a small cottage on the outskirts of the town, right next to the woods, Midnight stood staring up at the small house dazed and frozen to her spot, when she finally managed to gain the courage to move, she walked over to a shadow that lurked by the side of the house, and she stepped forward into it, as the shadow engulfed her, hiding her from the eyes of anyone who may have been watching, Midnight soon stepped out of the other side of the shadow and found herself in the child's bedroom. The young child stared up at Midnight, as she leaded over the babies cot, she whispered quietly "I am sorry" into the baby's ear as she sobbed silently to herself.

The half-moon was now at the highest point in the sky, which meant one thing, it was time to pass on the curse, this was the part that midnight dreaded the most.

-

After the curse had been passed on successfully onto the child, Midnight whispered a goodbye into the baby's ear, before climbing out of the window and down the vines, that grew up the side of the cottage, before stalking away into the untamed woods, and took the darkest path, to a secrete cove, where midnight had been hiding for years, avoiding anyone and everyone that she had ever known, including her family, for all they knew, she disappeared ten years ago.

-

The next morning, when the child had awoken, the door to the room had opened and the parents of the child entered, shocked at what they saw, instead of the brown haired, blue eyed baby that they left sleeping peacefully in her cot, they found a black haired, red eyed baby, that stared straight up at them, before reaching up a hand, as if to show them something.

The child's mother soon noticed a small half-moon shaped black symbol on the palm of her hand, before turning to her husband and telling him to look at the baby's hand.

" Is it what I think it is?" The child's mother whispered quietly to herself, but deep down she already knew the answer to the question, she started sobbing, as tears threated to spill from her eyes, which resulted in the child giggling, but it was no longer the innocent giggle of a child, but one which held darkness behind it, this only seemed to make the mother of the child cry louder, before being led out of the room by her husband. Leaving the baby locked in the room alone, staring into the shadows.
