Genesis.

this time the room is empty
there is no sunlight cutting its way across our walls
no sock waylaid on our way to the bathroom

the sun-kissed fire streaking across the sky
fade
our room is tucked out of time, quietly leached

there is no time to collect the dried flowers
scattered carelessly over our floors
so i bleed out into unearthly constellations

what is left settles amongst the clouds blooming shadows

Cassini.

tonight the gleaming stars have tumbled our way
spreading their game of catch all across the sky

if i reach out past the open window i can cup them in my palms
like the wind from our fan flowing past my finger tips

honeyed light spills out into the nebulous space below
wraps around the still bleeding wounds from a game intent on ruin

when i unfurl my fingers i set embers adrift from my fingertips
reminding myself that i am more girl than ash, more human than wreck
