Thank you

Thank you so much for downloading! Like you, I too was passionate about something. Something so big for me that I had to share it with the world. My book The Agile Project Manager was (actually still is) MY passion project. And I brought it to life using a few simple principles from the world of Agile. This ebook outlines how I wrote that book using those Agile principles and, more importantly, the lessons I learned that I will use to write my next book. I truly believe the principles I talk about here can be used for any change you wish to make in your life, any project. What are you passionate about doing? What do you want to bring to life? Read on: I will show you how.

Introduction

In 2015 I wrote a book called The Agile Project Manager. You can find it here. I am pretty proud of it for a number of reasons. The first one is that people really like it and are getting value from reading it (always a win). The second is that I wrote it using Agile principles and I believe the pragmatic application of these principles has helped with the book’s success. So much so, I want to share how I did this. I absolutely believe a book about Agile must be written in an Agile, iterative fashion. I also believe there is a book in everyone and, if you have a desire to write, you absolutely should. If you believe in something passionately, you should share it with the world. And what better way than writing a book?

This short ebook is a bit of a mix between what I did and, even more important, what I will do next time. Agile isn’t just about the principles of collaboration, trust and transparency (you can read about these and much more in The Agile Project Manager): it’s also about experimenting. I remember that when someone told me my first book would be an experiment I would learn from for my next book, I was horrified. I wanted my first book to be amazing. Perfect. After all, what if I didn’t write another book? And this was IT? Then I remembered my commitment to writing a book about Agile using Agile. So the first thing I needed to accept was that I was going to learn while writing this book. Learn a LOT. And I did. Are you ready to learn too?
