Or do they just see the lights?

Do they even notice me? Or do they just see the lights, my sparkle, the way I hold their ornaments?

But I'm so much more than a tree.

I stand upright. I'm proud.

At least I was until about Dec 12. By then I'd already displayed the lights and the ornaments for two weeks.

Have you ever stood on two feet for two whole weeks? No? Well. It's hard.

But I'm so much more than a tree. You know that.

Oh yes. I'm a shelter. For all your presents. Yes, I get it. You're giving presents, not getting them. The season of giving.

Well why don't you give me a rest. Either wait until two days after Thanksgiving to erect me or take me down immediately after Christmas.

I have things to do too, you know. Like seeds to look after. So my children can flaunt your lights and ornaments and shelter your presents again next year.

I'm not saying you should stop using my branches. I'm actually quite good at what you use me for. Just notice me. Once.
