A Sailor’s Savior. (A Poem)
A Sailor’s Savior
I’m an unworthy sailor,
caught in the seven seas.
Trying to unlock their secrets,
but I’m missing the keys.
I don’t believe in folklore,
or dragons above.
I’m just an old soul
who’s forgotten to love.
So when the storm came a-brewing,
and whisked me away.
I found no comfort in pleading,
or hope when I prayed.
So with ink in the sky,
and rage in the sea.
I accepted my fate,
and let it swallow me.
The weeping waves heaving
me to and fro.
I’m hopelessly lost,
no clue where to go.
I look to the sky,
and look there, it seems
that there’s a star on the horizon.
See the beauty she gleams.
A song in the night,
A voice in the black.
a melody assures, though
there’s no turning back.
“You can come with me now,
escape from this wrath.
Follow me and find yourself
back on the path.”
No thunder could tremble
her voice as she sings.
Hear the quaking of drums,
hear the mighty bells ring.
It gives life new meaning,
A new map to unfold.
Let the sails take on wind and
see what’s next to behold!
A modern day Newton,
with a new sense of will.
His sails wide and full,
with her voice its filled.
Amazing grace,
how sweet the tune.
That’s when I saw her face,
carved into the moon.
It’s easy to find,
a light in the dark.
When it shines like a beacon,
and sings like a harp.
So sweet darling angel,
your spirit so free,
sing me your song, and
guide me through the sea.
