The Shadow in the Void

Introduction

She couldn't really say how long she'd been drifting.  It could have been a thousand years as easily as it could have been a day.  Drifting in the void, alone, you lost all sense of time, direction, motion even.

But she wasn't alone.

Not really.

And that was the problem.

She should be dead by now.  She knew that.  She felt it in her bones.  She should be dead by now.  Her ship had blown.  She should have run out of oxygen long ago.  She wasn't breathing.  And yet, she was still drifting.  Awake.  Fully conscious.  Drifting through the void of space.

And then she saw something coming towards her.
