A black shecat looked over them gleaming lake wondering what would happen to her and all the clans if something bad was going to happen.

"Is something bothering you birchfeather " mewed a white tom.

"Yes " Birchfeather replied,"the clans have been here for so long it is hard to think that something bad may happen, Heatherstar this is forbidden love that me and you share what will happen if they find out"

Heatherstar looks at Birchfeather "They will never know I promise". Starts to lick Birchfeather's pelt hoping to soothe her knowing that he was on his last life.

 Brackenkit looked around the nursery,his mother Birchfeather was sleeping . Today you are going to be an apprentice he thought to him self.

"Brackenkit are you okay"mewed a white and black she kit.

" Snowkit I told you don't scare me like that"brackenkit mewed as he swatted snowkit .

"Well at least I don't sit and day dream for hours"she teased

Birchfeather woke up and looked at them.

"I see you two are fighting again"she mewed

"Sorry Birchfeather they both say together.

"May all cats old enough to catch prey meet me in the clearing for a gathering "a stern voice mewed.

Birchfeather looked at her two kits with pride,"I want you to be on your best behavior today and make me and your father proud she mewed.

Brackenkit looked at his mother and mewed "I will don't worry."

Birchfeather nodded her head and sent them out to the clearing.

 "Brackenkit till you earn your warrior name you will be known as brackenpaw,your mentor will be ottertail "mewed the brown tom,"ottertail I trust in you to show brackenpaw bravery , courage, and honestly."

Ottertail nodded her head a touched noses with brackenpaw.

Brackenpaw mewed" I will promise to be the best warrior I can be"
