the b a s i c s

i was a younger girl

f o u r t e e n

he was older

e i g h t e e n

he was cuter 

and stronger

and smarter

and more p o p u l a r

so when he asked me out

how could i say n o?

i was new to high school

everything was c o n f u s i n g

i didn't get anything

my old friends were f a k e

the popular kids never talked to me

no one did

i easily became

the o u t c a s t

so when he came to me

one day

during lunch

and sat down

i was f r e a k i n g out

he said "hey"

i whispered a "hi" back

he asked for my name

and i told h i m

he talked to me

all during lunch

and did the same

the n e x t day

and the next day

after that

he had me wrapped around his f i n g e r

and i never realized

how much i l o v e d that.

we talked during lunch

every day

he asked for my number

and i gave it to him

he texted that night

"wyd?"

"nothing much" i responded

he talked to me some more

and i talked b a c k

"what r u wearing?" he asked before bed

i answered

"tank top w/ shorts"

he texted back

"send a pic? ;)"

i h e s i t a t e d

but wanted to win him over

so i took a photo

and s e n t it

he called my body 'hot'

and said it was 'rocking'

i don't know why

but it made me feel

u n e a s y

we talked some more

then said goodnight

and then i went to my mirror

and looked at myself

and wondered

what he m e a n t.
