Possessing Kara

Kara laid awake with a clenched jaw. She had stacks of textbooks and papers strewn on her desk and surrounding floor. I slinked towards the desk and lifted up the top book in the stack, Journalism Tips, Tricks, and Risks. She hadn't even sensed my presence. I dropped the book on the floor. She lifted her head slightly, but was not curious enough to investigate. I walked towards the bed thinking I might have to do some mild scratching or slapping to rouse her. Her eyes were vacant, as if she was already possessed. As I dove in to her abdomen, she didn't even stir. Her thoughts, loud and fast were deafening.

'She was in her office, why didn't I just knock and ask to talk? I am such an idiot, I have this term paper due and she wants that article done, there is no...'

"Shut up!"

Kara sat up in bed, "Hello?"

"I'm in our soul dumb dumb."

She leaned forward peering over the side of her bed and noticed the textbook on the floor.

'How did that get there?'

"I dropped it there. Do you ever just relax? The way you are going you'll end up in the pit with me sooner rather than later."

'You can hear me thinking?' she thought.

"Yes, Kara. You currently have a demon from hell in your soul, do you not feel that?"

'What's it supposed to feel like?'

"I don't know, burning I guess?"

'I thought that was just indegestion. Why are you in my soul?'

The nonchalance of her questions was infuriating. With heated energy I pushed upward and she began to lift off the mattress. The thin blanket covering her lap slipped off.

Panicked by the nuance, she demanded, "Put me down."

She had levitated less than a foot off her bed but I dropped her and stepped out of her soul, ready to call it quits.

"You are the worst," I knocked the stack of books off her desk.

She stood up on her bed, "Was that necessary? You knocked a bunch of bookmarks out of that one. Jesus, like I don't have enough to deal with right now."

I worked my face into several folds and creases and enlarged my mouth and exposed large fangs dripping with blood. With a growl and heated energy I threw her into the wall. She slipped back down to her bed, sitting crumpled on top of her pillows.

"Okay, I get it," brushing the hair from her face, "You're evil and scary. Look, demon, I need to get up in a few hours, if you could knock me out or do something useful ..."

"You weren't even sleeping. Look, I have to complete this posession to graduate," I confessed, "And it'd be great if you cooperated so it goes by quickly."

"Graduate? Right. Whatever you have to do, just don't kill me until after I get my promotion, then I will happily die."

"I don't plan on killing you,"

"Okay great."

She adjusted her position so her head rested on the pillows, and she fell fast asleep.
