Introduction

The Business of Being President (2017:05)

Loose lips and intelligence, contradiction and chaos

There is nothing worse than disloyalty

For the legacy of political resignations

Do you want to be a Cyborg?

With a unified theory of leadership

Approaching power by manipulating heredity

And selling the apocalypse - a second coming?

Without a desire to understand the White house crack up

A Fable Unfolding

The Avoidance of (Masculine) Hysteria (1985:268)

How can these prisoners

for whom nothing exists

but fakes

but words associated with projected shadows

How can these men,

hallucinated by voices

whose tricks of reproduction - production

they cannot hear

How can these men

Fascinated by spectacles

whose mimetic techniques

they are incapable of evaluating

How can these madmen

These children deprived of all education

Be freed of their chains

And cured of their insanity?

A Hypnotic Method - persuasion and control

Each time that one of these men is

(or is in the story)

freed of his bonds and forced,

all of a sudden, to get up, turn his head

Start to walk, and turn his head toward the light,

all of these actions will cause him pain,

and the glare of the fire will (supposedly)

prevent him from seeing

A Soft and Vulnerable MOMENT

Only one man is freed at a time

Someone - an undefined, dumb "someone" -

Will shed his prison chains

And henceforth move freely

If he could.

But those chains, in actual fact,

Are merely doubles, figures,

Representations of an immobility

A lethargy,

A lethargy resulting from the cave

From the sympathetic magic of the cave

And the spells of the magicians

Even when his bonds are loosed

The prisoner will (or would) still be stiff and numb

Frozen into holding his earlier position

Hamstrung, bewitched

Bewitched by what is happening on the opposite wall

The Blind Spot of an Old Dream

A Question of Method (1985:13)

"Ladies and Gentlemen ... Throughout history people have knocked their  heads against th riddle of the nature of femininity ...Nor will you have escaped worrying over this problem - those of you who are men; to those of you who are women this will not apply -  you yourselves are the problem"   Sigmund Freud

The Subjectivity of  Thought is Brought to Consciousness

So it would be a case of you men

Speaking among yourselves about women

Who cannot be involved

In hearing or producing a discourse

The enigma that is woman

Will therefore constitute the target

The object , the stake,

Of a masculine discourse

Of a debate among men

Which would not consult her

Would not concern her

Which, ultimately, she is not supposed to know anything about.

"No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly." Donald Trump (2017)

...Socrates' principle is that man has to find from himself both the end of his actions and the end of the world, and must attain to truth through himself.

"He who pays the piper calls the tune. I just love women. It's been one of my great downfalls in life." John Laws

"I'm just a pawn in her hands ...I live a frugal life." Clive Palmer

The Saturday Paper (May20/26  2017)

Left in the Awakening Nightmare

Making a stand against the new dark times

With a childish man, compulsive and narcissistic

Confronting the vertigo of a Flying Circus

A dangerous balancing act

"Most people don't listen anyway"

What is Involved ...in the (new?) Phallic  Order (1985:18-26)

Let us begin again,

Or rather , let us continue to listen

Without impatience

To the narcissistic little man

A little man who would have no other desire

than to be, or remain, a man, himself

in this proliferating desire of the same

Death will be the representative of an outside

Of a herogeneity, of an other

Woman will assume the function of representing death

And castration, and man will be assured of achieving mastery

And subjugation by triumphing over the anguish of death.

Thus Freud discovers - the desire for the same

For the self-identical, the alter ego

The desire for the auto...the homo...

The male dominates the representational economy

Socrates expresses real existence as the universal "I", as the consciousness which rests in itself ... free from desire ...
