Sunlight slanted through the pines as I sprinted down a sandy trail, my auburn hair flying out behind me. I glanced behind me and let out a shriek of exhilarated laughter as I saw Yuri gaining on me; his brown eyes glinting playfully in the sunshine and a goofy grin playing at his lips. Fall leaves crunched and crackled under my feet as I picked up the pace.
