Tallulah and Eric Learn to Fly

Delilah and George had come over to play with their friends, Tallulah and Eric. Tallulah and Eric were flying Dinosaurs and lived in nests high up on top of the rocks.

They could not fly to the ground on their own as they had not learnt to fly. Their mothers would put them on their backs and bring them down onto the ground so that they could play with Delilah and George.

They all ran around shouting and playing. Delilah and Tallulah chased each other and George and Eric tossed Mr Hedgehog to each other. Suddenly Eric spotted a huge bunch of their favourite nuts in the tree above them.

What to do? They really loved the nuts but they could not reach them and their mothers were not there go and get them for them. Eric saw their friend, Bertie Bird fly over. “Would you please break those nuts off with your beak and drop them down to us?” he asked.

Bertie did his best but he could not break them off the branch.

Then he said to Eric

“You have wings. You fly up and get them for yourself.”

“But I can’t fly” Eric answered.

“How do you know until you try?” Bertie asked.

Eric looked at Tallulah and she nodded her head. They took a running jump and flew into the air and came down with a big plop! Delilah and George stood watching them.

They took a deep breath and tried again. They soared into the air and landed on the Palm tree. Eric and Tallulah broke the nuts off and dropped them on top of Delilah and George which caused them to laugh loudly.

When their Mothers came back to get them they were all sitting around, eating the nuts.

“How did you get the nuts?” their mothers asked. “We flew up and got them ourselves” they answered.

“Clever little Dinosaurs. That is one more thing you have taught yourselves.”

And the Mothers had a Picnic with them too.
