Chapter 1 The Reason

No one knows the reason why she shakes and trembles, The only know she wasn't born this way, however , she did have microcephaly starting at a very young age. Doctors still cannot explain why she displays signs of parkinsons, but fails to test positive for it. And after some years they decide it is caused by the microcephaly.  Her brother claims she ended this way when she was near one year old when she was left in his care suffering from scarlet fever. No mother around, since she had things to do she had no choice but to leave the young girl alone with her six year old brother to look after her.

For a week he tended to his sick baby sister, pulling a stepping stool up to the stove and the sink to collect and boil water to make her milk for her bottles, for washing her and for bathing her. He recalls how scared he was but did all he knew to do for his baby sister. He rocked her and fed her and placed cool cloths on her forehead, hoping and praying mommy would come home and his baby sister wouldn't die. But the young mother didn't return for a week. Such a scary week for a six year old.

The other reason given to me by her mother, During her pregnancy she got into a fist and kicking fight with another woman up in her apartment in Joplin Missouri. The woman kicked her very hard in the abdomen. She fought often, even during her pregnancies, having no reguard for her unborn baby. Not really aware that they can be affected by her choices.

Later I discovered a diagnosis letter from a neurologist. It said that the reason is unknown, that there are no genetic markers, and that the mother, daughter and son of daughter all three had microcephaly. That there is some familial inheritance, but no link can actually be found. And the diagnosis for the young woman and her son is that of Mental Retardation.

My thought, During those years and for many long after the area in and around Joplin, Missouri was flourishing in the mining business. Many digs were under way in Joplin, Baxter springs, Kansas and Cardin Oklahoma. SJ'ss Mother was raised around all those areas. Including Grove, Oklahoma. SJ's father was born in Cardin, Oklahoma. This town is closed now and so is Pritcher, Oklahoma. To many sinkholes and high levels of toxic organic chemicals that are known for causing birth defects and cancers.

I've been to both towns in 2010. There's nothing in Pritcher, and a few structures are left in Cardin. The people left and what they left behind left me with an earie feeling. School books left on the book racks in local classrooms and book shops with students names and notes etched into them.

Either way She is a Magic Maker.

Chapter 2 Carefree

From what ive been told, Sj's growing up was carefree for the most part. She quit school when they started a life in Oakley , California. Going no further than the eighth grade. Her claim is that the coach whom was also her teacher refused to teach her to read and write. She was a girl in a classroom full of football players. Feeling isolated she dropped out. She met a young man named Manuel that soon became her boyfriend. They liked each other a lot until one day he brought over a cedar chest with elaborate ships and sails carved into the shell. He asked her to marry him and she said yes. However, she found out her family would be leaving Oakley for Northern California. She broke her own heart when she broke Manuels.

She later loaned the cedar chest to her mother, in which she gave to her second husband. SJ rarely mentioned her life in Oakley, and become involved in another family when she moved, putting her first love behind her.

As she became more and more mature, her personality became larger than life to those she came across always leaving a long lasting impression on them. She was having fun!
