Iris and how she came to be
Once the Gods of Olympus sent Thaumas "the wonderous" (a marine-god) to make a champion to defeat Hades, it was cast in scripture that he was going to take over Olympus, Thaumas fell in love with Elektra (a cloud-nymph). They soon had a child Iris, she was kept from the gods, her parents thought she deserved a normal life to be as she wanted...
The gods reach out
On the Greek festival for the dead Dionysus (The god of death) was sent to see what was stopping Thaumas from bringing their saviour they had no luck finding him, but they found his daughter. Dionysus called for a favour from Dolos (The spirit of trickery) to lure her to The Necropolis. They had a mischievous plan to get her to dig up a sacred body.
The Plan In Action
Dolos caught a glimpse of Iris and started playing his tricks The very first trick he, changed the Necropolis to a gold deposit. This made Iris started to dig, but what she didn't see was the body she was about to uncover was the only human Zeus actually loved. this enraged Zeus, decided to take things into his own hands to send his messenger (Hermes) to gain the trust of Iris and get her to Mount Olympus to defeat Hades.
