Introduction

Three minutes to go. You are currently P 10. Let's see if we can improve on that time. The voice of the engineer came through on Daniel Cross's radio. The rear wing opened up to allow more air to pass over it, gluing the rear wheels to the ground, improving traction. He eased his foot off the accelerator and leaned his head to the right as the track curved slightly to the right before veering off to the left again. Braking zone, apex, accelerate! Off to the right again before two successive left-handed corners before a straight where he could accelerate to 110 mph. He glanced at his lap delta for sector one: -0.241. 0.241 seconds quicker than last time!

Less than 90 seconds later, he had completed the whole lap and crossed the line, doing the top speed of 168 mph. Well done. You've moved up to P 4.Now bring the car back to the pits and we will get her ready for tomorrow. Daniel Cross went around the track again to get back to the pits. Upon entering his garage he got out and looked at the computer screen. It showed everybody's lap time, and the time remaining in the session. As he watched, the time ran down to zero, and he had been pushed back into  seventh place.

The engineer walked up to him, took a quick glance at the screen and said: "P7. We can still finish in the points with a good start."
