The Golden Labyrinth (Part 1)

Our story starts after Temple of Doom. Indy and Short Round have departed towards Delhi with Willie.

Indy and short round look around them. The airport, which they had arrived at, was filled with tourists.

Indy goes through customs and one of the guards comes up to him.

"Are you permitted to carry this?", she asks, holding his whip.

"Of course.", responds Indy. He grabs the whip and  hastily leaves the customs table. "I hate customs.", he mutters under his breath. Short Round smiles at this comment.

He heads towards the flight gate, however, someone comes up to him. "Dr. Jones, you need to come here with me.", he says.

"Hey, i'm kind of busy here.", Indy says.

"But it's urgent. Archaeologist Victor Alzure wants to meet with you.", he responds.

Indy stops in his tracks. Victor Alzure was a world famous archaeologist. He had always wanted to meet him one day.

"Ok...", he says, "Where do I need to go? Is he waiting at Barnett College?"

"Oh, no Doctor Jones.", says the man, "He's waiting in Greece."

The screen cuts to black, and the intro is played.

Suddenly, Indy finds himself on a flight to Greece, with Short Round right beside him. Willie returned to the states, but promises that they will meet again.

The screen cuts to a map and an airplane heading towards Greece.

Indy and Shorty arrive in Greece, and are immediately greeted by a limousine.

The limo takes them to a large manor, where Indy is able to meet Victor Alzure for the first time.

"Ah, Doctor Jones. You made it!", he exclaims, "And you brought a friend."

He gestures Indy towards his study, and Short Round remains outside. He then tells Indy the story of the Minotaur.

"I've heard the story.", says Indy, "But why do you bring it up?"

"Because, Doctor Jones, there is more to this story than you think.", Victor responds.

"Legend has it, that a vault full of treasures was hidden within the maze.", he continues, "I want you to find them, so they can be given to a museum for study!"

Indy hesitates for a moment. The act of finding the labyrinth of the minotaur was promising, but could he trust Victor to give the treasures to a museum? "I'll do it", he says finally.

"Good!", exclaims Victor, "Oh, and you'll probably need this to find the labyrinth." He pulls out an ancient looking sword with crystals in the blade.

Indy grabs the blade and looks at it with great interest. He notices an inscription written on the blade in Greek: Όταν μέσα στο κακό θηρίο, η λεπίδα καθαριστεί, θα εμφανιστεί ο λαβύρινθος παλαιού.

"There's an inscription on the blade.", says Indy, "It's written in Greek."

"Do you know how to translate Greek?", asks Victor curiously.

"Yes.", says Indy. He reads the inscription carefully, and then pieces out this translation: When inside the foul beast, the blade is purged, the labyrinth of old will emerge.

He reads the translation aloud to Victor who thinks to himself. "What beast does it refer to?", he asks.

"Are there any monsters running around here?", asks Indy, smirking.

"No but...there are three statues of monsters in Mythology Square near Mount Olympus.", says Victor.

"Then let's get down there!", exclaims Indy. They ride the limo towards Mythology Square, where Mount Olympus towers over them.

They see three statues of Greek monsters but they still have no idea what to do next.

"The blade has to 'purge' one of these monsters, but which one?", Indy asks aloud. He looks at each of the statues: one is of Medusa, one is of a pegasus, and one is of the minotaur.

Indy thinks for a moment. "Indy. Wouldn't the minotaur be the beast you need to put the sword in?", asks Short Round, "It is the beast of the labyrinth."

"That's it!", exclaims Indy, "But where does the sword go?"

Indy looks around the minotaur statue. "There!", exclaims Victor. He points to a hole in the top of the minotaur's head.

Indy climbs on to the statue and purges the sword into the hole. Suddenly, a beam of light shoots down from the sun and into the crystals within the sword's blade shining a colorful beam of light into the side of Mount Olympus. Suddenly, a door appears at the foot of the mountain. "There!", exclaims Indy, pointing towards the door.

The three of them walk over to the entryway, which is full of cobwebs and dust.

"I'll stay out here, while you can go inside...", says Victor nervously.

"See you when I get out.", says Indy. He and Short Round head into the labyrinth, and the door closes behind them.

They head down a flight of steps, and Short Round steps ahead, but suddenly, the floor falls down into the abyss, and Indy grabs his arm.

They shimmy across the remaining ledge, and reach a room with 3 doors. A puzzle is inscribed on the wall: I see clearly, but I am blind. I am awake, but there is no light. Words line the tops of the doors: A Bat, A Plant, An rock.

"It's a bat!", exclaims Indy aloud. He grabs short round by the hand and takes him to the next room.

A door faces them next with a switch next to it. A phrase is next to it:

拉我,但不要碰我。

"What does it say, shorty?", asks Indy.

"It says: Pull me, but don't touch me.", says Short Round.

Indy thinks of what that could mean. Then he realizes that he could use another object to pull it.

"Stand back!", he says. He pulls out his whip, and pulls on the switch. The door next to it opens.

They come to a room filled with tons of treasures. A banner hangs on the wall with this phrase: If it is treasure you seek, then look for a leak, if you succumb to temptation, you may take a long vacation.

"What does it mean, Dr. Jones?", asks Shorty, "Isn't that the treasure?"

"No.", says Indy, "It's a trap."

He looks around and sees a puddle where water is dripping. "That's the leak!", he exclaims. He walks over to the puddle and steps in the puddle. A hidden button is triggered, and a door opens, revealing a dark room.

A message rings out overhead: You may not see, an object of three, when you shout, the exit will sprout.

Indy tries to feel his way around the room, but he cannot see at all.

"What do we do?", asks Shorty.

Indy then thinks back to the riddle. He had to think of an object of 3 and he had to shout it aloud. "A triangle", he shouts loudly.

Suddenly, torches are lit, and a door opens to reveal not piles of treasure, but a golden fleece. "The Golden Fleece?", asks Indy in shock.

He grabs the fleece, but the labyrinth crumbles around them. They run towards the other riddles they faced, and down the other paths they took.

They reach the entrance door, but it is locked. Suddenly, it glows a goldish color and opens up.

"Victor!", says Indy exiting, "We found the Golden Flee-" He stops in his tracks. A group of soldiers face them with pistols and rifles in hand.

"Now Doctor Jones, you will hand me the Golden Fleece.", says Victor smiling.

The screen cuts to black and then we see these words appear on screen: TO BE CONTINUED.
