A little girl by the age of 6, with long black hair, and grey eyes, wearing a black sleeveless dress with white daisies on it, and wearing black slip on shoes. Was walking down a street full of people. Passing alleyway after alleyway when she suddenly heard a sound. Being the curious six year old she was, she walked towards it only to find some men crowded around a box. As she got closer she could hear one of the men say "hmph, what a pitiful little creature you can even see its bones" and another, "what do we do with it" as she got closer she could just see what was inside the box, it was an adorable little kitten  "why not skin it and give it to the dogs", when she heard that she let out a gasp 'whatever happens I have to save the kitty' she ran toward the man that was reaching for the kitten, and slammed the side of her body into him, pushing him enough to fall on his side 'Thud' "ouch, what the fuck. Watch where ya going brat!" he yelled. She was tiny so when a friend of the man went to grab her she managed to just evade his grasp by ducking under his arms and picking up the kitten, she sprinted out of there. Running around the corner all she could hear as she cradled the kitten is "GET BACK HERE YOU BRAT!".

 

She could hear feet running rapidly from behind her, so she assumed they were chasing them, and ran faster, and faster, running left, and right narrowly evading people as she ran through the street to her destination, she slowed down hearing no more stamps of feet. She went down an alleyway, on the other side of the alleyway there were no people. There was a big barb wire fence, inside the fence there was an abandoned building with a sign that said 'Hotel' the 'o' and 't' were dulled and falling apart, the building was at least four stories high. She climbed under the fence, and started toward the building once she got inside there had a red carpet that was filthy, a reception desk, and the lobby was huge. As she walked further inside she could see stairs, she sighed then put the kitten in one arm and grabbed the rail with the other, and started climbing the stairs when she got to the second story, she saw a door, and walked though it. Then she saw a hallway she went to a door that had the number '5' on it, and walked inside.

 

When she got inside she saw a double bed with black sheets, a dressing table, and another door leading to the bathroom, obviously the room, like the rest of the building, was dirty but livable, she sighed again. Then sat on the bed, she put the kitten next to her, crossing her legs, she turned to the kitten and realized she was just now seeing its appearance, it was midnight black with forest green eyes, it was beautiful, but it was now skin and bone, like her, you could see its ribs. 'Poor thing, why didn't anyone take you in sooner', 'hi there, my name is Kira Ishiki. And I guess I'm your owner now huh, I'll try to provide food for you, but I'm warning you food is pretty scarce even for me. Now I'm gonna have to give you a name huh...hmm.", she put a hand to her chin and started thinking a few seconds later she blurts out "I got it!" She stares at the kitten, the kitten stares back at her, "I'll call you Hikari, how does that sound", the kitten meows. "Hikari it is then, welcome to your new home Hikari-chan".

Sunlight gleams through the curtain, there were birds cheeping in the air. Kira tried her hardest to block out the light by hiding under the covers. That didn't help, so she stretched, sat up, and looked to her left, she smiled as she gazed at the kitten. "Good morning Hikari-chan, I hope you slept well" she said as she gently pet the kitten. She got out of bed and carefully crept out the door as to not wake the kitten, she walked down the stairs and out the building. Once out the building, she went to the back of the building, where she saw a small pond, sadly because the hotel is abandoned, there is no power, so she striped down to nothing and bathed in the pond, once finished, she got out, grabbed her stuff, and went back to the building and into the kitchen.

 

She searched high and low til she found some food, oats, and sardines "oh well, if this is all this place has, I'll take what ever I can get". So she went to the cupboard, grabbed a bowl, poured the oats into the bowl, sadly there was no good milk, so she had to eat it raw, she picked up the bowl,  and went up to suite '5', where she found the kitten playing with the blanket, she giggled, and went over to the kitten, who perked up at the sight of her. "Hey Hikari-chan, I've got some sardines for you, I'm sorry it's not much, but as I told you, food is scarce" she opened the canned sardines, and put it in front of the kitten "here you go, hope it's okay". Once they finished, Hikari went back to playing with the blanket, Kira sighed 'what to do, what to do' she made a hmm noise. "Oh, we can go for a walk, do you want to Hikari-chan?" she asked excitedly, the kitten having enough of the blanket, walked up the her, and started purring while rubbing against her arm, Kira giggled, "okay, let's go" she got up and went to the closet, there were few clothes from the orphanage where she lived beforehand, she picked out a red dress with white ruffles along the edges, and red slip on shoes, she looked outside, and saw it was windy so she put on a white zip up hoodie, picked up the kitten, and cradled her in the hoodie opening, holding her gently but firmly. When she was done, she went out of the building, climbed under the fence, and walked through the city, walking past lots of people that curiously looked at the kitten, who's head was popped out the top of the hoodie.

 

When she saw how dark it was getting she contemplated whether they should go home or not, when she thought of something "hey Hikari-chan, do you want to see something beautiful, that is pretty hard to see in the city" Hikari meows "it's settled then, let's go" she walked for half an hour, avoiding people by staying in the shadows, til she saw a meadow, as she got closer she saw a boy who looked to be her age with his knees up, and his arms wrapped around them, while looking at the stars, he had black hair and brown eyes. She walked up to him "hey" she says, startling him, he reply's "hey, who are you?" She sits next to him, turns her body towards him, and puts her hand out "hi my name is Kira Ishiki" he shakes her hand "I'm Kouta Nozaki" he hears a meow and looks down, there's a kitten playing with the grass "you have a kitten, what's it's name?" "Her name is Hikari, I just found her yesterday". He pets the kitten "pleasure to meet you too Hikari" then they both sit there admiring the stars "so why were you out here Kouta?" "Because I love to look at the stars, and you, what are you doing out here?" "I also enjoy the stars, and just thought I would bring Hikari". When it gets to midnight, Kouta stands up, and brushes himself off  "well I better go before my mum gets angry, it was a pleasure meeting both of you I hope to see you again, and if you ever need me I'll be here every Thursday night, bye" he says before sprinting in the direction she assumed his house was "yeah bye, maybe we should go home too Hikari" she gently picked up the kitten, and started walking home, on the way home only one thought passed through her head 'why does he seem so familiar' little did she know, a certain brown eyed boy was thinking the exact same thing.

A week has gone by since she last saw Kouta. She gets up from bed, stretches her limbs, checks the clock and sees that its 11 in the morning and walks out the room tiredly. 'ah~.. I'm so tired after what happened last night' 

'Flashback to last night'

It was around midnight when there was a yell "AHHHH~ WHERE IS SHE" a panicking Kira was running around the room frantically, when she tripped and hit her head on the side of the bed "ow~.. What am i gonna do, i cant find Hikari anywhere" she got up, rubbing her head "I'll go try the kitchen". She walked into the kitchen, and was about to check the cupboard when she heard a meow. She turned to her left and saw a dumbwaiter, she walked towards it and put her ear to the metal surface, she heard the meow again "there you are!" she opened the dumbwaiter, and picked up the kitten "I've been looking everywhere for you" she kissed the top of the kittens head "how did you get in there? oh never mind as long as your safe I'm happy" she looked up to the clock and saw the time "HOLY MACARONI, its 2:43 AM. ah~ I'm so tired" and trudged up to her room for some well needed sleep. 

'End of Flashback'

 

she rubbed her head thinking about last night "I seriously think there's a bruise" she shuffled out the room forgetting to close the door, she went to do her morning routine, leaving behind an adventurous kitten. She came back 10 minutes later, she sighed "I feel so refreshed, hey Hikari maybe you should come with me next time, and at least get some fresh air" she got no response and looked around the room... She saw no sign of Hikari. "what the..! HIKARI!" she dropped everything she was holding and started racing round the room searching under the bed, on top of the wardrobes, but finds nothing and runs out the room. She checks each floor. By the time shes finishes its 1:00 PM "where could she be" then she remembers last nights events "ah. Hopefully the dumbwaiter" and rushes to the kitchen when she makes it to the kitchen, she has a quick look around, seeing nothing she goes to the dumbwaiter and opens it... There was nothing there "oh no. This cant be happening, I... I checked everywhere. I wont give up. I will find Hikari" she hurry's to her room, fishes through her closet and quickly puts on a long sleeved black dress and black ugg boots.

 

And darts out the room and out the hotel, when shes outside she sees rain pouring heavily from the sky but that doesn't stop her as she starts thinking of places the Kitten could be '​Hm... She could be anywhere, but first I'll try the places I've been with her... Ah ha I'll try the meadow, its Thursday so even if she isn't there I can ask Kouta for help' and so she runs down the street, as she runs round the corner she bumps into something or someone and falls to the ground "ah... my head still hurts ouch" she looks in front of her only to see a women who looks to be in her late 20's with long curly blond hair, and cerulean blue eyes. "I'm sorry I wasn't watching where I was going" said Kira, "oh no its quite alri-" the women cut herself off as she looked at me, "Holy cheese and crackers its you!, you've grown so much I haven't seen you in 2 years" the odd lady says, Kira was confused but pushed it aside as she was in a hurry "I'm sorry, but im in a hurry so i have to go, bye miss" Kira said before running down the street unaware that the odd lady tried to follow her but couldn't catch up. Kira raced to the meadow that was becoming more visible as she approached, she saw Kouta and started screaming for him "KOUTA, KOUTA. HAVE YOU SEEN HIKA-" she failed to notice the stump in the ground and feel on her face "ow why am I always falling on my head... anyways Kouta have you seen Hikari anywhere?" Kouta helped her up and replied "no sorry, is she missing?", "yeah could you help me?", "sure" said Kouta. Kira grabbed Koutas hand, and dragged him out of the meadow and back to town. They searched left and right, up and down til Kouta heard something, "Kira do you hear that?" they heard barking and cheering.

 

They stopped at an alleyway and saw shadows, as they got closer they could also hear hissing, when they got close enough to make out the shadows Kira saw the three men she saw in front of Hikari's box that day, and two vicious, snarling dogs. They were all crowded round a scared animal they couldn't quite make out, they heard one of the men say "well well well look what we have here, a cute little Kitten, you know I heard Kittens make great dog food, right boys?" the dogs slobbered, and barked hungrily while the men laughed horrendously. Kira could see that the kitten was Hikari, one of the dogs leaped for Hikari, she couldn't think straight when she ran for Hikari "HIKARI!" she jumped in front and shielded Hikari, Kouta yelled for her "NO KIRA!" blood spilled onto the ground. The dog started chewing and tugging on her shoulder, Kira screamed in pain, she could feel his teeth tearing through her flesh, the dog let go of her and she fell to the ground, but strong arms caught her, she looked up and saw the odd lady from before had caught her and Kouta was next to her with Hikari in his arms. She could hear voices but she couldn't make out the words as her vision was slowly becoming black and she was fighting consciousness until she could no longer keep her eyes open and fell into darkness, the last thought that went through her head was 'Thank goodness Hikari is safe'.
