Death's Chosen One

Introduction

I've never bought into that "There is only one God" crap. EVER. It honestly makes me laugh. Okay, so yeah, at the beginning of time you had Chaos, and two deities named Gaia and Uranus — earth and sky — formed from Chaos. Uranus and Gaia had the Titans as their kids, and two of their kids — Cronos and Rhea — had Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. Due to a prophecy foretelling that one of his children would overthrow him, Cronos actually swallowed the first five, and Rhea tricked him when Zeus was born, giving him a rock instead of baby Zeus. She then smuggled Zeus off to the island of Crete where he was raised by nymphs until he could return to fufill the prophecy and overthrow his tyrant father.

Yeah, you might be thinking, "Why would someone believe that twisted crap?" Because I was chosen. Very few are chosen in this day and age, let alone someone like me. I was a girl who didn't believe in anything. I didn't believe in gods, in happiness, or emotions in general, really. I lied all the time and broke rules on a regular basis. The only thing I had the smallest amount of belief in was love. Maybe that's what got his attention.

Sorry, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Zoe Brandt. I'm nineteen years old, and I'm the chosen of a god. I've only met him once, and that was by accident. I'm distant from most people, and closed off even from my friends. I'm dark, and people often call me weird or mysterious, but the truth is that I just don't really like talking to people very much. But when I met the god who chose me, it was like something clicked, and everything became crystal-clear. It felt like I had been seeing the world through sunglasses, everything had a darker hue until I met him. But now I'm free to see everything as it really is. Oh, and the god who chose me? His name is Thanatos.
