Chapter 1

High School: even the devil himself couldn’t have thought up a hell as bad as High School. Teenagers are worse than the Government. They’re vile creatures fuelled by wild hormones and destroying others. They merely care about satisfying their sins.
But nothing is worse than the hell I’ve live through, nothing.
The last day of School for the summer is always one of the best and worst days of the School year. I enjoyed the ability to go to the bathroom without having to ask and being denied. But I didn’t like the sobbing teens, acting as if they’re never going to see each other again; when really they’re going to see each other the next day when they over crowd the shopping malls.
I rolled my eyes at them as I leaned against the lockers, waiting for Sisalee and Fae to arrive from getting their yearbooks signed by their other friends.
‘Thank God, there’s only one more year left in this hellhole.’ I thought to myself as I watched the eleventh grade class hug each other and cry overly emotionally. I let out a heavy sigh. My currier bag was looped over my shoulder with the contents of what was left in my locker. My dull jet black hair framed my face and the bangs hung over my eyes as a straight across blanket. My blue and white stripped long sleeved top was balled over my hands as my arms were crossed over my small chest. The damp Louisiana air made my black jeans cling to my legs.
Sisalee; an athletic bombshell with the body of a supermodel, emerged from the classroom with a bright smile even with the metal tacked to her pearly white teeth. Her vibrant red hair (obviously dyed) was being stroked by her boyfriend; Danny, he stared down at her seductively. Sisalee’s ivory white cheeks became pink as she tried to hide the smile that she wore beautifully.
Beside them was Fae, a petite and lanky overachiever. She had her nose in a book; it amazed me that she could walk and read at the same time. She didn’t trip or bump into anything.
“So, my parents buy this summer house and they’re not even going there until next week. Instead, they’re going camping.” Sisalee’s voice was feminine but butch, if she were to raise her voice at you, you’d probably crap your pants. Without even looking up from the pages of her book, Fae replied with:
“And, your point is?”
I was expecting Fae to make a rich people comment like she always does. Sisalee’s family is fairly wealthy so they’re able to afford a summer house and all these fancy extravagates. Not every teenage girl gets to vacation to Italy every Christmas to her sea side mansion.
Sisalee shrugged her shoulders and flailed her hands with a sarcastic look on her face.
“They want me to go to the summer house and get it ready for them. They said I’m too spoiled,”
“Shocker.” Fae muttered, again without prying her eyes from the book. Her comment earned her a displeased look from Sisalee.
“–And they said I need to learn about hard work or some shit like that.” I had a feeling Sisalee was going to ask us for something. If she can get out of hard work at any cost, she will. She’s not a slacker; she just doesn’t like to work hard when she doesn’t have to.
“Okay, Sis, get to the point.” Fae said, finally taking her nose out of the book. She closed it and held it under her arm, close to her side. Fae’s muddy brown hair matched her eyes, the long waves of plainness was tied back into a tight and proper ponytail. Sisalee pursed her lips before flashing her smile at us.
“Well, I was wondering if you guys would like to come with me tomorrow to help clean up the summer house. I have the keys to the liquor cabinet.” Sisalee began to list the reasons why we should go with her to the vacation house for the couple of days that she needs to clean up the house for her parents. Fae sighed and pursed her lips as she looked at Sisalee with a look of being overworked, her eyebrows twitched upwards while she and Sisalee held eye contact. After a long moment of unbreakable eye contact, Fae rolled her muddy brown eyes and looked away from Sisalee.
“Alright, I guess I could come and help you.” She said, replying in a tired voice. Sisalee smiled at her and gave the small girl a hug from the side.
Danny, of course, was in. Free booze and a house with no parents and his girlfriend of three years, of course he was in. That left me. Sisalee looked at me as I leaned against the lockers with my arms tied over my chest. My jet black hair hung over my eyes, shadowing them from the world. I shrugged a shoulder and forced a smile at her.
“Yeah, I’m in.” I was 100% positive about getting out of the City and into the peaceful Countryside. This is gonna be good for me.
