Poetry
Solitude
I stand alone.
The solitude must not become me
For although we descend into darkness,
We don't have to do it alone.
If we have to courage
To join our heart with another
Until our identities are merged with such a passion
That not even the darkness can find a place to hide
In the corner of our glorious presence.
We are undefeatable
Indestructible
Incomparable.
Yet here I am
Surrounded by the darkness so there is only a bantam sliver of light
In the middle of my heart,
The place you traced and whispered, I can carry, I can free you.
Yet here I am.
About to take the plunge
To be bound in my freefall.
The solitude has become me.
Meandering
We are the wanderers.
We are the hopeful.
We are the hopeless.
We create light.
We create darkness.
We are surrounded.
We are empty.
We get lost
spend our lives
trying to get found.
We meander from
happiness
to pain
from pain
to happiness.
We are everything.
We are nothing.
Inhale.
Exhale.
The sun
was not built
for you.
Choices
As the choices of life surround you
You begin to feel overwhelmed
So many decisions flying at you
Many of them not making sense 'til now.
As you stare at the choices around you,
Your heart and brain start a feud;
Some of your choices have been kind
While others have just been rude.
But you shrug off the past and set
Your shoulders towards the now
You know you have to make a decision
You just do not know how.
Suddenly a choice floats in front of you
And you put aside any doubt
Your mind is set in stone,
As you choose to follow the difficult route.
A nice variety of poems.
