A Bad Day for Evil

Introduction

His name was Carl. Seriously? What kind of name was that for a demon? He'd always been miffed about his name. When he finally got his chance to go out into the world, to possess someone, he chose a man named Damien (after all, wasn't that the name of that evil kid in those movies?) and it made him feel... more like a demon should feel, he thought. Despite the name, the man whose body he possessed was a decent fellow. He paid his taxes, he went to work everyday and never complained, he was polite to the people he encountered, a loving and faithful boyfriend... His dreams were small and simple- he wanted to own his house, marry the woman he loved, and to go to work without ever dealing with his boss (who was NOT a nice man). Carl saw these things and scoffed. What a waste of life, he felt, but of no matter now. Now, Carl was Damien, and his dreams would become Damien's dreams... Humans bowing down, other demons praising him, recognition from Lucifer himself. Of course, Carl had no idea how these dreams were going to come about in reality, but he had faith that if he just tried hard enough, mucked up enough things in the world, hurt enough people... he would achieve everything he'd ever dreamed.

Chapter 1

Honestly, he had no idea where he'd gone wrong. It had seemed simple enough to ruin his hosts life. First, he stopped paying mortgage on the house, expecting an eviction notice. What he received instead was the title to the house. The owner had passed away suddenly (though she was quite old- and fond of Damien, who'd helped her with her taxes, and her electronics) and left the house to Damien. Now he owned his dream home, and had extra saving from not paying his mortgage...

Frustration grew, but he shrugged it off... moved on to the next thing on his agenda. The girlfriend, who his host planned on proposing to... He invited her over for dinner, a romantic film... and then went out and found a more attractive woman and seduced her. The girlfriend walks in, and of course catches them in the act. However, in her rage, she lets it slip that she was only using Damien anyway- for his money, his naivety, and access to his married brother- whom she'd been having an affair with. To top it all off, he'd realized that the random woman he'd picked up was, in the Grand Scheme of the Universe, his host's soul mate. Frustration began to turn to rage inside Carl. This was getting ridiculous.
