Introduction

One single name called out over the white noise. What if it were yours? What if because of the white noise, the name was all you heard -- your name. You don't know anything else. You don't know why your name was called. You just know that you heard your name, Did anyone else here your name or did they hear their name? What if you won the lottery or what if you were wanted for a brutal crime? What if there was a national emergency and this was the only way you could be reached. One never knows when the day begins what the day will bring. Lana Jones certainly had no idea what her day would bring. When the day came to a close, Lana Jones would be gone for good.

The morning started off as a normal day. Lana Jones woke up, got dressed, grabbed her coffee and headed off to work. The radio was on as usual, and Lana was singing along as she skillfully navigated the traffic. As the traffic grew thicker, Lana became more and more nervous. She wasn't a fan of traffic. Suddenly, the music stopped and the static started. Lana tried to adjust the radio, and all she could get was static -- white noise. Then over the white noise she heard her name or what sounded like her name. "Lana Jones" -- static  "Lana Jones" -- more static -- "Lana Jones". THEN silence.

She wasn't sure what to do, but she wasn't about to continued driving to work. She turned the radio off, but still she heard her name "Lana Jones". Her heart started beating rapidly and Lana had no idea where to go or what to do. She picked up her phone and dialed 911, but static, that haunting white noise was all she heard from her phone.

Next thing Lana knew, she was waking up in an island paradise. There was a gorgeous beach house and a pool. The kitchen was stocked and there was a note that said, "Just ask for anything you need." There was nobody to ask, but whenever Lana asked for anything it just appeared.

She never made it to work. She never returned home. Her car was never found. She was never heard from again. Of course Lana didn't mind.

We don't know why Lana Jones heard her name. We don't know what finally happened to her. Is she still on her island paradise? We do know that the next day began, and the world continued spinning, and people continued their normal lives. The next day another name came clearly though the static. What if it were yours?
