CHAPTER ONE

One hundred and eighty-eight pounds! DAMN IT!

Veronica sighed while stepping off the scale. She’d been working out for six months and had lost more than fifty pounds, but now she’s hit a plateau, and it was frustrating as hell. Her doctor wanted her to lose twenty more pounds.

Veronica or as she like to be called, Roni Mosely had been a curvy girl her entire life, or what the stick figures of the world would call fat or chubby. Five-foot four inches tall she had waist length dreadlocks, chocolate brown skin, with light brown eyes. She’d always had what you would call a chubby face. Luckily, as she’d gotten older her face had slimmed out some and her high cheek bones had given her more of a grown woman look. She’d been raised by a very self-confident curvy mother. So, she’d never had some of the esteem issues a lot of other women did.

On top of being confident in herself, she’d also been smart as a whip and great with computers. By her senior year in college, she was running her own tech company, well on its way to being very profitable.

Now seven years later, she was the CEO of one of the largest tech companies in the world BlackHatter.

Roni had never been one to sit around and whine about what she didn’t have, if she wanted it she went after it. Except when it came to love and relationships, the older she got the more she wanted love and happiness in her private life.

She knew though, how men were not attracted to women like her, not unless they had emotional mommy issues, were unemployed and broke or liked to beat women. She hadn’t met anyone that was sane, financially stable, and not still being breastfed by their mommies at forty years old who could be dedicated to a woman her size.

So, she settled for great friends and family, along with her business. It wasn’t as if her life wasn’t full, she’d traveled the world for work and pleasure. She also a wonderful relationship with her parents and her sister.

She’d even recently looked into getting artificially inseminated. One thing she wanted and wasn’t willing to give up was to be a mother. However, six months ago she’d been slapped in the face with the fact that although she loved herself she wasn’t as healthy as she should be. After an incident at a convention where she’d lost consciousness and been rushed to the hospital. She’d discovered she was near to being diabetic and if her lifestyle didn’t change, she might go to the next step and be on insulin the rest of her life. She also wouldn’t be a candidate for artificial insemination if she didn’t get it under control.

So, she’d hired a nutritionist and joined the gym down the street from her office.

RumpShaker Fitness Gym was an upscale hot gym in the area, the thing that made it so popular with the ladies was the atmosphere that everyone is welcome and no one is allowed to walk around half naked, no matter how good they looked.

After changing into her workout gear and putting her dreads in a bun, she went out to get her time on the treadmill out the way before her class started.

“Hey Veronica! How are you doing today?” JJ greeted her when she came out of the locker room.

“Hey JJ! I’m annoyed,” she replied leaning against the desk.

“Why? Is Carrie walking around naked for no reason in the locker room again?” JJ asked her.

“HA! No she’s not in there, I don’t think.”

“Yeah, we haven’t seen her in a couple of weeks ever since Elliot demanded that she cover her ass when someone saw a crab jump off her cooch!” JJ whispered laughing.

“That is so disgusting! And you are so wrong JJ.” Roni laughed.

“Now, you know your ass is nasty when the crabs start jumping overboard! They normally don’t discriminate!” JJ joked.

“EWWW, JJ!” Roni grimaced even as she laughed. “No, that is not my problem in the least. I’m frustrated because I hit a plateau with my weight loss. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.”

~* * * *~

What Veronica didn’t know was that Eliot had heard her voice and was eavesdropping on their conversation. Elliot Jackson, the owner and lead personal trainer of the gym had his eye on Veronica from the day she’d walked in the door to sign up.

To him, she was and still is the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen in his life. He loved a woman with curves who had something for him to grab onto. As a man, he wanted to be enveloped into the soft warmth of a woman’s body close to his strong muscular one, and Veronica was just his type.

Although, she’d lost a little over eighty pounds, she still looked good enough to eat as far as he was concerned. Not only was she gorgeous, she was funny, smart, and kind.

He’d offered his personal training services to her several times and each time, she’d declined. So, Elliot had been relegated to watching her from a distance and chatting her up when the opportunity arose.

“Are you stalking that woman again?” his partner Derrick spoke.

Eliot jumped and turned his head. “SHIT—man you scared me!”

“Probably, because you are watching one of our clients around the corner like a pedophile stalker. Dude, ask her out before the FBI does a raid, accusing you of being a peeper!” Derrick scoffed and walked away.

Taking a deep breath and steeling up his nerves, Elliot came out of the shadows. “Hey Veronica! How’s it going?”

Shaking her head and laughing as JJ leaned in whispering to her, she swung her gaze over to him.

“Shhh,” JJ said quickly.

“Hey El! I told you to call me Roni! If I have to call you El, then you have to call me Roni” she replied.

“I know, I know, I’m sorry Roni. I heard a little bit of your conversation—” he started to say.

“A little? Really?” JJ cut him off, giving him a hard time.

“JJ…isn’t there something you could be doing?” he replied giving her a look of annoyance.

“NOPE!” she said staying right where she was while resting her chin in her palms listening to their conversation.

Roni giggled at the their bantering.

Attempting to ignore her, Elliot took a deep breath and started again, “I heard you’ve hit a wall Roni?” he intended to get close to this woman and maybe this would be his chance to do so. In his mind, Elliot started to plan out all the things he could do to help Roni and all the things he would do to her. If she gave him the chance.

~* * * *~

Roni had noticed Elliot from day one—who the hell wouldn’t? This man was six feet, three inches of chocolate thunder. His voice was deep and smooth like a cross between Barry White and Marvin Gaye. His chocolate brown skin had a permanent sheen that made him look likable. He always smelled like cocoa-butter-hot-sex on a Saturday night. To top it all off with how so nice he was. Helpful to everyone who walked in the door from the roly-poly women like herself to the body builders that came in.

She knew from an online search she’d done about the gym, he had more than twenty of these gyms in two states, a exercise equipment line. Some workout DVD’s and would soon, be launching a series of online workout classes. Elliot was the dream man for any woman.

However, she knew for a man like him, she would never be his speed. “Yeah, I just can’t seem to drop this last twenty pounds and it’s really starting to annoy me! I really just want to get to the point where I can say that I won’t be going on insulin, you know?”

“Yeah, I totally get it. Listen, I know a few tricks and ideas that I think would help. Why don’t we do this, give me two weeks of working with you, to see if I can help you get off that last pesky twenty pounds,” he offered with a smile.

WOW! He has the best smile ever! Whose teeth are that freakin white? “Ohhh, no, no! I can’t ask you to do that,” she said waiving him off.

“Come on, that’s what I do. Besides, you didn’t ask, I offered. Come on Roni, give me two weeks?” he urged nudging her with his shoulder.

“Please let this man help you! Otherwise, he will ask me seventy eight times a week how things are going and I really ain’t got time for that!” JJ told her.

Laughing, Roni shook his hand. “Okay, Deal! Now, I need to get to my class. I’ll stop by your office on my way out El, to get things set up. Thanks again.”

“No Problem,” Elliot said smiling from ear to ear while watching her walk away.

“Quit grinning like the cat who fucked the canary while staring at that girl’s ass,” JJ chided then answered the ringing phone.

CHAPTER TWO

“So…what’s the plan?” JJ asked as she walked into Elliot’s office sitting down and putting her feet up on his desk.

“What are you talking about? Elliot replied slapping her feet off his desk.

“You know what I’m talking about. What’s your plan for getting Roni to let you jump her bones?” JJ retorted chomping down on a potato chip.

JJ and Elliot had known each other for ten years, they were like brother and sister, so they gave each other shit like a brother and sister would. She’d worked for him in one of his first gyms, as a sales agent getting women to sign up. She’d done such a great job, he’d kept her on and made her VP of sales.

About six years ago, she’d married a Marine and had a beautiful little girl. After being deployed fourteen months, her husband was killed in action. JJ had then sunk into a deep depression.

Wanting to help her, Elliot suggested she come and work at one of the gyms as a receptionist when her daughter was at school. Giving herself sometime away from home to interact with people.

“What did I tell you about eating crap in here?” he said pointing to the bag of chips.

“I’m not gonna leave any crumbs in your precious office.”

“If you get crumbs on my floor, I’m gonna lock you in the sauna! You know how you hate to sweat, I’m talking about this being a healthy facility and you are eating chips!” Elliot got up to get a file out of his cabinet.

“Oh, Jeez!” She pouted putting the bag in the trash. “There…you happy? Now, what’s the plan?”

“Don’t you have something to do?”

“Yup. Give you a hard time. So stop stalling and tell me what the plan is?”

“Lord, why did I encourage you to come back to work? I must be gluten for punishment.” He rolled his eyes.

“’Cause I’m your sister and you love me. Now, answer the question.”

“I have a better question, when are you going to tell Derrick you like him?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” she retorted getting up to walk to the door.

“Wait…where are you going? You want to hear my plan, let’s hear yours?” he teased with a laugh.

“I don’t have a plan and you know why I don’t have a plan. He has a girlfriend and I have a child to raise.”

“Well, you and I both know his so called girl friend is cheating and you know Derrick, so why would your daughter be an issue for him?”

Derrick’s girlfriend had long legs, tight abs and a penchant for other men. She’d even tried to seduce Elliot. It had almost destroyed their friendship when he told him, so Elliot decided to let him discover on his own, the woman she really was.

JJ said to him at the time, she must perform the blowjob of the God’s to make a man as smart as Derrick act so stupid.

“It’s not about her being a problem for me. It’s about her getting to know her father and loving him for the wonderful man he was without any other outside male influence,” she explained. If there was one thing JJ hated talking about, it was her husband.

“You can teach Shay about her dad and the hero he was without spending the rest of your life alone.”

“I know! It’s just—it’s not fair that I get to see Shay grow up, become a young lady, a woman, a mother, a wife. While he get’s—death! I get to go on with my life and he died making it so that I could.”

“Knock, Knock. I’m sorry am I interrupting? I can come back tomorrow?” Roni said from the doorway.

“No, No! Roni come in, I was just whining about the dead husband again,” JJ said wiping the tears from her face, trying to pretend she was okay.

“Oh, honey! It’s not whining and I’m sure Elliot doesn’t think so. Right?”

“Yeah, Yeah. She knows I have her back,” he said looking back over at JJ.

“Yup! That is my big bro!” JJ said holding her fist in the air in black power affirmation.

~* * * *~

Roni hugged JJ tightly. If there were anything I would want, if my husband died it would be a hug all the time.

“I’m gonna get back to work and let you two talk. Thank you both,” JJ said leaving the office.

“I’m so sorry I interrupted,” Roni said.

“It’s okay, she’ll be fine. I’ll take her for an ice cream cone later and she’ll be okay. Please, please sit,” Elliot prompted pulling a chair out for her.

“It’s so unfair, she can eat a triple scoop cone and look like she does and I eat a tablespoon of sherbet and look like this,” Roni grumbled.

“You look good enough to eat to me,” Elliot replied.

Did he just say what I think he said? Or am I having another one of my daydreams. Jesus, let this be real, let me pinch myself…OUCH! DAMN IT! Okay, I’m not dreaming, but is he serious? No, woman. He can’t mean it, just look at him!

~* * * *~

Elliot wasn’t sure if she’d heard him, and he wasn’t about to ask. It was a slip of the tongue anyway. He wasn’t going to risk scaring her off now. “Okay, so I have come up with an exercise regimen that I think will really help you lose the last twenty pounds you are trying to get rid of. I do want to have one of my nutritionist come out to your house and go over some things that could be holding you up in your diet. Is tomorrow evening all right?”

“Wow! Umm— I don’t know, my phone is in the car with my calendar on it. Can I call you when I get to the office and let you know if tomorrow is good for me?”

“Yeah, that’s fine. I’m gonna start your training sessions off at three times a week, if you can get that into your schedule?”

“That should be fine, I mean I’m here five days a week now, so three days should be no problem. Do you think that will be enough?” She looked over all the plans that Elliot had mapped out. Roni was shocked at all the details that went into getting into shape. I mean it was almost like a closing on a house.

Elliot laughed. “I know it looks like a lot on paper and sounds like nothing when you say it, but don’t worry, I’m gonna be your worst enemy those three days.”

Dropping her head into the palm of her hand, Roni shook her head. “Lord, what have I gotten myself into?”

“I promise it will only hurt a little.”

“I promise if you make me cry, I’m kicking you and running.” She gave him a smile.

“Deal.”

“Okay, so what am I going to owe you for all this magic your going to work for me?” she said pulling her credit card out of her wallet.

“Put that thing away,” he said waving her off.

“What do you mean? This is a business and you are doing work, so you need to be paid”

“I’m not taking your money Roni, forget it.” Elliot stood up. He’d used his stern tone hoping it would stop all conversation of her paying him.

“Well then, thank you for the offer El, but I will be going elsewhere for my trainer services,” Roni said getting up and walking toward the door.

“Okay, okay!” Elliot called out. “How about this, I heard you tell JJ once that you’re a gourmet chef right?”

Turning toward him, Roni was intrigued with where this was going. “Yeah, I went to school, look at me. I love to eat. Why?” she said holding her arms out.

“STOP IT!” he yelled at her. Damn this woman did not even know what a goddess she was! He realized he startled her when she stepped back. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to yell. It’s just, you are a beautiful, sexy, vibrant woman that can do anything you put your mind to. You are any sane man’s wet dream. STOP putting yourself down. It makes you look bad and it makes other people think you are weak, which I know you’re not. SO STOP.” He’d been walking toward her the entire time he was talking. He was standing in front of her now rubbing his hands up and down her arms.

They stood there for a moment staring into each other’s eyes.

“Um—did you just say I was sexy?” she finally asked.

“Yes, yes I did and a host of other things.” He laughed.

“Well, I tend to get stuck when a fine ass man calls me sexy…sorry! I heard the rest too,” she said smiling at him.

“Okay, so here is what I was thinking…” He walked back behind his desk. “…There is this lady that I really want to impress when I invite her to dinner at my place, and the only thing I know how to make is a Kale smoothie. So, how about you teach me how to make a gourmet meal and I will help you lose the last twenty pounds?”

“Oh!” Roni exclaimed.

Is she disappointed? Did she want me to hit on her? Elliot waited to find out.

“Well, that sounds like a good idea. Yeah, yeah we can do that,” she said going to sit back down.

“Okay, great! Let’s get down to business.” He took his seat. After laying out the plan for her training and his chef classes, Roni hugged him while looking excited at the prospect of getting further away from the diabetic scare she had.

Feeling her arms wrapped around him was like heaven for Elliot.

Then she sashayed out his office while winking over her shoulder.

He couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to have her legs wrapped around his shoulders as he delved into her love box with his tongue.

I’m gonna eat you up one day Ms. Veronica, mark my words.
