Dedication

I dedicate this book to the pastoral team of Meadowbrook Church. The call of the Good Shepherd on our lives is both a great privilege and a huge responsibility. I am honored to care for the flock of God with such dedicated under shepherds.

Introduction

Perhaps the greatest needs in our lives, and certainly in this present world, are for guidance, comfort, care, protection…just to name a few…both now and in the future. What makes those needs even greater is the reality that we cannot provide these things for ourselves.

Enter the Good Shepherd. God, our Heavenly Father, fully aware of these needs in our lives and knowing that only He can meet them, has chosen to make Himself known to us as the Good Shepherd. In fact, it seems that this is one of God’s favorite ways to represent Himself. The imagery of the 23rd Psalm is so powerful and graphic that just reading it brings us comfort and peace.

In this teaching, we will consider and apply the beautiful and powerful truths that Scripture teaches us concerning our Good Shepherd. My prayer is that as you read these pages you will come to love and follow this Good Shepherd more closely than ever before…or perhaps for the very first time. To find yourself following Him and experiencing His care in your life—through your journey and into your future—is to soon discover that you are never alone and never without help. May He restore your soul…

Grace and Peace,

Tim Gilligan
