Sclerotherapy is not a new method of treating varicose veins, it is now well understood.

In recent years laboratories have been able to synthesize a sclerosing agents, which is benign and does not cause allergies. The sclerosing solution comes in different concentrations.

Sclerotherapy can be used as an adjunct to surgical treatment of varicose disease as well as during surgery under anesthesia, as a month later after the operation ( retouch ).

Sclerotherapy is also a separate treatment for Teleangiectasia and Spider veins.

Several complications occur in case of:

1) Extravasal injection of the sclerosant causes strong pain, skin necrosis, hyperpigmentation.

2) Overdose of sclerosant causes phlebitis and even DVT ( deep vein thrombosis ) if the procedure is performed in the Perforator vein or in Magistral veins ( long and short Saphenous veins ).

3) Wrong injection of the sclerosant in the superficial arteries: Dorsalis Pedis and Tibialis Posterior.

Care must be taken when applying Sclerotherapy in patients with Diabetes, Arterial Hypertension and Ishemic disease of the lower extremities.

The experience and competence of the surgeon is very important when choosing a concentration of sclerosant depending on the patient's skin color and skin type.

Serious complications can occur in the case of a surgeon's error.

Sclerofoam is a minimally invasive treatment for removing small superficial varicose veins.

The damage to the vein walls is an effect of Sclerofoam procedure, blocks the vein.

The tissue of the body successfully replace and reabsorb this blocked vein.

Blood is circulating through HEALTHY VEINS.

The method is used during lateral varicosis ( not Magistral type of varicosis ).

The sclerosis attains the Superficial and Spider veins. It is crucial to be aware of the concentration of the Sclerofoam.

It must be considered that the concentration of the sclerofoam be 3 to 4 times less than the concentration of the solution in Sclerotherapy in order to avoid hyperpigmentation.

The method of Sclerofoam is used both: independently and as an adjunct to surgery.

Preparing of the foam is produced immediately before the procedure.
