DEVASTATE

i. Devastate

They've never had the chance to tell you

Of all the hunters out at night

And just how

d e v a s t a t i n g

The synchronized call

Of their hunting horn could be.

(The dead warned you but you didn't listen)

ii. Burn

 They told you

to never light a match

Amidst dry leaves

But forgot to mention

That forest fires

Could also burn

In between

The hollows of your bones

And leave you

Charred

Like the ruins of your home

(The ruins the flames refused to eat)

iii. Drown

 They warned you

Of the deep waters

And of how the ocean

Has eyes.

(They did not tell you

That he would have eyes

Just like the ocean

And that he, too,

Would see you drown)
