The Petrified Past

Blood leaked from my wound as Fear grabbed me by the throat and said: “This, this is where it ends!

He bit down hard, but not hard enough, to watch me wriggle like a worm. Fear is cruel, most off my life had been controlled by it. Black magic blasted from his bony hand, a scream leapt from my mouth like a jack rabbit running from a fox, as my mind filled with visions from the past.

Yes… I remember that day. Too scared to stand up, too scared to fail… well, you have failed. Failed to see that every bad moment in everyone’s life fills my hunger and yours is especially… tasteful…”

Fear grinned, showing his snow-white teeth. I saw my ‘friends’, leaving me hanging over that cliff, I saw my own sister neglect me, I saw her let me be bullied, hurt and put down. I felt something, strange… I felt RAGE!

The dark magic filled my soul, my dusty-blonde coat turned black, my stormy grey eyes turned white… and that’s when I saw it, what my life would have been like without my ‘friends’ or ‘sister,’ it was glorious.

Wouldn’t you have preferred that? Don’t you think you deserve that?

Yes… they shouldn’t have left me alone!

Yes! YES!

I blasted down to Earth in a flash of black, my pack mates, alerted, carefully walked toward the crash site. The dust took to the wind. Heads tilted. My eyes shot open, white steam gushed out of them like a wild waterfall.

I rose and started to work. I griped them by the throat with my powerful jaws and crushed the windpipe. After that, I turned and grinned to see my sister and my old friends. A slash of my prevailing claws and they were dead. Their bloody, meaty bodies lay motionless on the muddy floor.

When the smoke cleared, my fur and eyes turned back to normal. The red ink all over my muzzle and paws. Tears leaked from my eyes, when I felt an unceasing pain on my chest, my pupils turned to dots, as I saw a giant x over my chest.

A mark of Fear, I saw what I had done. So I left… scared.
