“Nice” girl 

Who knew that the label of “nice” girl would stick with her well her whole life and ruin relationships romantic ones friendships she would loose her first and second best friend because of it and her high school sweetheart too but she would also gain love in the end and your probley wondering why nice is in quotation marks who knew that in this current age of day being nice being friendly would make you the flirt yes I guess kindness is so rare that being nice to anyone is considered being hit on trying to get something from them sexual or other thing since people do use flirting to get their way a lot 

Chase aka Chasity knew that her parents giving her this name had to be their way of playing some practical joke since she would become known as the Flirt in school by the end of sixth grade her town was so small that they only two  schools elementary that went from pre k till sixth grade and the junior slash high school two buildings one for the sixth and seventh grade classes and the other for the high school the thing with small towns is everyone knew everyone so her transformation to chase since she didn’t want to be remembered as the girl who got named the class flirt at the awards ceremony at the end of sixth grade plus the changes she went through between sixth and seventh helped her 

So how did she become the Flirt girls are evil and sometimes I really hate them yes I realize I’m a girl which why I probley hate them so much it wasn’t her fault that she was naturally nice its this societies fault that teaches girls and boys that they can’t be nice to each other without having to be sexual so how did she loose her first best friend and gain her first friendinme rachel and her had been best friends since pre k chasity thinks the only reason rachel chose to be friends with her was because chasity was the plain girl she was chubby which her mom and sister kept telling her it was baby fat that she would loose as she age she had poop brown hair her eyes the same color nothing really stood out about her till between fifth and sixth grade by the end of fifth grade is was clear that God was working a blessed transformation over her by the end of fifth grade she got breasts and not  training bra breast a actual bra breasts she was cup b by her eleventh birthday she had gotten period and by the week before sixth was going to start she had somehow gotten natural auburn highlights in her hair that no one believed where natural but they where rachel believed her about the breasts and period but she couldn’t seem to forgive her about the hair apparently the dirty blond hair everyone had admired since pre k had come from a bottle even though I had a hard time believing that because who dyes a five year old hair 

Rachel and I started junior high friends but frosty make matters worse was they had put me gifted and talented classes so we had no classes the same in the sixth grade hall well at least the basics math english science history we only had lunch and our electives together well all but one rachel had made it to cheerleading I had decided to do debate count that as one more strike on rachels list so what caused the end of friendship for good a boy you know that promise you make to each other as friends growing up that you will never ever let a boy come between yeah that promise is bullshit even I though I say I was just being nice to him I didn’t like him that way I was eleven I wasn’t thinking about boys and kissing and sex ok maybe a little about kissing and a little about boys but I was most certently not flirting with Theo the very hot very attractive foreign exchange student I guess because we knew all the boys around us theo was in sense fresh meat well to rachel I had theo for all my gifted classes but rachel only had him for study hall so since I was the best friend I was deemed the person to get them together well you know how these stories go by the time Theo got around to asking any girl out he asked me not rachel and even though I told him no I had unmistkenly broken girl code never flirt with the guy your best friends likes this all led to rachel bitching me out on the quad while theo looked on laughing your such a bitchy slutty flirt she yells at me no I am not I yelled back I don’t even know how to flirt with theo chiming in yes you do chasity what are you going to say you where just being nice I was just being nice whatever rachel says we are no longer friends and I will get you for this maybe not right now but soon she stormed away  I knew she meant it too I had seen the girls she had distroyed over the years the girls that said I got what I deserved on awards night since I never helped them 

Weeks went by I was the outside now not really knowing how to be in that spot since I had always been in the in crowd with rachel people didn’t talk to me not even the one who hated rachel and theo it turns he had girl friend back home awards night how did rachel get the honor of giving out awards I still never figured that out but she got the honor of giving the highest grades awards which I was last because I had the highest but before she gave me the awards she said that they where giving a new award out that because of me this award was made and I truly earned it was miss quotation marks Nice girl award which we all know mean that she is a flirt and future slut I wanted to run but no I grabbed the mic and I said I am not a flirt I am nice to people but we live in a society that teaches girls and boys that they can not be nice to each other without something going on and you know what rachel I rather be the flirt or future slut then be the biggest bitch this school has ever seen everyone in church and your parents think your so nice why don’t you tell them how many girls you have ruined over the years because you felt like it or because you didn’t like their hair you end our friendship over the fact that Theo didn’t ask you out you ended because for first time in your life you where shown up and you couldn’t stand it I’m so glad we are not friends anymore are friendship was not healthy I turned to walk away she grabbed me me you can’t end our friendship bitch only I can I am the queen bee and you are nothing and I will make your life a living hell in this town chasity go ahead rachel remember I’m your best friend I know all your tricks and what you have up your sleeve and thats how the world war three was started or at least that was my cousin nessa says 

Summer between sixth and seventh was a summer of change for me my dad got a new job teaching at a catholic university in san antonio so we moved my sister was going to be a freshman in college there at the lake since being the my dad daughter she got free tuition my mom decided to be a stay at home mom now that my dad was making more money and me I would be starting junior high in the fall at the colleges college preparatory academy for seventh through twelfth grade oh I got to live in a dorm on campus the academy was not located on the college campus but a few block away it was like a mini college of it own it had two dorms on for high school students and one for junior high then the library and the gym and the main building on the bottom floor where the main offices the cafe con leche coffee shop and the cafeteria the second floor was the seventh grade hall the next the eighth grade hall and on infill the elective hall on the last floor nessa was going to be spending the summer with us I was scared and excited all I have known my whole life was small town the biggest city allen where I live which was nothing like san antonio plus the house that we got I got my own bedroom and bathroom so did my sister my brother chose to stay in our hometown since he would be getting married that fall but he helped with the move the house given by the college was huge it was three stories the first floor a kitchen with a bar and formal dinning table a living room a office for dad a room for my mom to take breaks to herself on the second floor where mine and jessica rooms our rooms where identical which was a good thing 

Our dad got a stipend up front so he gave me a debit card that he would put in one thousand five hunrend a month going up every year till I was eighteen and in college I would still get a allownce because the only job he would allow us to have in college is a work-study job so my sister just got money to put into her account she worked during the summers she had open a account at fifteen for graduation my sister they got her her dream car since they didn’t need to use the money to pay for school she got cute little red beatle contervatble my dad said if I kept my grades up all as till I was fifteen they would get me a car for my birthday my father took me on a shopping spree at my favorite store the apple store where I upgraded my original apple iPod to iPhone one of those cool color ones a red one an iMac for her room and macbook air he said that the academy would give her an Imac for her room in the dorm and iPad for school he also got her an apple tv one of the perks of her dad working at the oldest college in town is that the house was located in the oldest richest part of san antonio which also was part of a country club territory each house in the club got a gold cart they could drive to the club each member got a card and tab for each money that would be paid at the end of the month once her and ness a had finished decorating her room and putting up all her stuff they spent the rest of summer hanging at the club because it had indoor pool chasity had decided to change her name to chase you got to love the world of social media someone took a video of her and rachel at the award show and made a music video out of it with the background song I know what boys like 

Who ever had posted it managed to make top youtube video of the week and the next week be mentioned on all the talk shows her mom and her where watching the morning talk shows while they got her stuff ready to move in to the dorm that weekend when all of sudden the video was on the view yes the view my mom just looked at me and we both sat down wondering what the view ladies had to say about this well apparently they did agree with me on one point that it was societies fault that a girl couldn’t be nice to a boy without being a flirt but that was the only thing they agreed on apparently rachel and I where what was wrong with girl today queen bees and mean to other people I looked at my mother and told her this is coming from grown ass women who talk shit about others all the time they issued an invitation to me and rachel to come on the show this was rachel fifteen minute of fame the next day as my mom was making breakfast I watched four grown ass women who should know better cut into a twelve year old girl talk about bullies I recognized rachels face that was the I’m trying not to cry in public face someone please get me the fuck out of here  before I loose it she wasn’t lucky her parents had decided to register her with the school with her nickname chase smith she told her mom and dad she wanted to go on the show thats how she found herself sitting around the view table friday morning they started attacking her telling her she should be ashamed of herself that I represented what was wrong with the girls of america today I looked at them really what did you expect us to be we learn from the women ahead of us you all are grown women who where attacking a twelve year old to the point that cried on national television I will admit there is something things I do regret doing not standing up for people against rachel but she was my best friend since pre k the only one who didn’t make feel invisible but I also knew she was friends with me because I would never shine greater then her rachel and I are still children trying to figure out who we are but you all are grown women who should know better you attack people on your show all the time and yes I get the whole freedom of speech but the freedom of speech was not invented to talk badly about others but to be able to say the things that need to be said to be able to stand up for others and for issues you made my best friend cry why do you even care they ask we grew up together we cried with each other we had our own little inside jokes about each other and others but boys got in the way it funny how when you innocent and naive you make that promise a boy will never get between you we all know thats bullshit they always do I wasn’t flirting with him I’m twelve I have no idea what it means to flirt and I am most certently thinking about sex well my mom told me what sex was when I got my period and the idea kinda grosses me out of sticking penis in my vagina the idea of french kissing grosses me out do I want my first kiss and a boyfriend yes 

they intturpt me so are thinking about sex no I said kissing not sex well isn’t someone naive whatever I get it no what I say you already made up your mind bye I got up and walked out of the studio my mom and I spent the plane ride home with her telling me she was proud of me I figured something out about life that most people figure out and whats that there really no point in defending yourself  people are going to believe what they want and your not going to change their mind as long as you and God and Jesus know the truth that all that matter because at the end of the day only he can judge us and he has already forgiven us so just be you little girl I hugged her I woke up saturday releasing it was move in day at the dorm the school was small two hudrend in the junior high and four hunrend in the high school they drove to lake academy campus she checked in she was on the first floor first room down from the elevator they where given a student id which held there meal card money and how to get in the halls both door and a key for her room so how where boys and girls kept apart each hall in the middle was a lobby with a tv snack machines a microwave a coffee and soda machine there was digital door on each side of the hall the girls on the right and the boys on the left the lobby was the only place where boys and girls where allowed to mingle moving her in didn’t take in since she didn’t need to bring any of her electronics since the school provided an iMac and a flat screen so she brought her apple tv her clothes it may have been a private school but they could wear regular clothes decent regular clothes two hours later my parents had left me with my groceries orentation was tomorrow she was scared wondering if any of the kids here had seen the video then the tv interview I mean she was officially registered as chase smith but she still looked at the girl from the video she called her sister jess please tell me your not busy it a fashion emergeny a fashion emergeny my sister said ill be there in five she had moved into the college dorms last weekend she had orientation all week and she started classes monday I got in her car it was still early barely four ok what do you need she says mom and dad may have registered me under my nickname chase smith she laughs what you realize thats a boys name I laugh I know I don’t remember I had I earned because you where always chasing nick around I blushed so the truth comes out you did like him thats besides the point I stuttered I need a makeover I don’t want to look like girl from the video I dont want to be known as quote on quote miss nice girl this is a new school and I want to start over auburn she said what we go to a salon dye your hair  auburn 

As my sister typed into her gps the closest salon thinking this was the only hair I had ever known the closet and the salon with the best reviews was downtown we drove downtown and parked it was called sprinkles are you sure you didn’t take us to cupcake factory I asked my sister she laughed I walked in and I was dazzled by all the bling a girl with straight blond hair looked at us ok so I’m guessing make over for school she asked me I said ok come on two hours later I had auburn layered hair with a curling iron a straightener my nails that I kept clean where painted with a french manicure with a one little diamond on the tip they also did my make up then they sent me to Indivdual boutique it was two doors alone it wasn’t a typical clothing store you took a fashion quiz then based of it they selected a wardrobe for you you have three wardrobe options the basic for two hundred which was just clothes the fashion clothes and shoes for four hundred and the bling clothes shoes jewelry for eight hundred or you can pay for two year subscription since the owner was an alumni for the lake she gave me a fifty percent of the bling subscription and with the discount card from sprinkles I only had to one thousand one hundred my new clothes would be delivered to my dorm tomorrow night my sister and I got starbucks a half calf peppermint mocha for me and green tea for her decaf my sister never drank caffeine me its how I survived without it I would not be up in the morning my sister drove me back to my dorm the individual package had gotten there early two big boxes I signed for them I took them to my room I unpacked my new wardrobe which was full of pieces that I would have to be very brave to wear some shoes that I would need to practice in 

As she was putting stuff away around ten pm she heard a slight knock she went to open the door none was there but there was a rose with no thorns it was white and under it was mini evenlope she closed the door she opened it inside was a key card and post it you have been selected to join the order of the roses be in front of the main junior high campus at eleven forty five dress to impressed remember if we choose you we don’t take no for an answer it was signed with rose chase thought secret societies only worked in college but I guess not it was exactly eleven and for the first time she decided she wanted to be brave but not so brave when it came to the dress picking a red and black baby doll dress with sparkly black flats she put her hair up half way with curls did a little make up at eleven thirty five she walked to the main campus she got there at eleven forty thinking was she crazy five minutes she heard the bell ring marking the five min mark no one else was there she was starting to think she had been tricked she was about to walk away when she felt some very strong arms grab her and put a hand  over her mouth don’t scream he whispered he was extremely tall chase was five seven and she only went half way up his chest he had to be over six feet there was no way he was junior high and he had the bluest blue eyes she had ever seen he let her go do you trust me she shook her head yes to afraid to open her mouth he grabbed her hand and led her into a chapel in the main campus they sat down she was expecting him to get up to leave but he didn’t he held her hand on his lap very close to a part that chase wasn’t sure if it was getting bigger or was she just imagining plus she was sure he was a man and she was just a twelve year old child he would never be interested in her she could feel herself blushing and she wondered if he noticed she turned to him he turned to and winked at her and leaned in your secret safe with me he whispers just as tall elder man walked up to podium chase tried to breathe wondering what the hell was going on and was her sister here she couldn’t tell it looked like her but she was so confused the man boy sitting next to her leaned pay attention this important chasity he says how did he know she thought she was registered under her nickname the man on the podium cleared his throat welcome to two thousand thirteen and two thousand fourteen school year for the preprotary academy high school and college your probley wondering about the order of the roses it is old tradition in the christian church here you are paired with your life long partner he or she will either become your best friend or if your lucky your husband and wife I gasped thinking what in this society you will be thought the ways of the lord and not the ways of the world 

What she thought oh yeah a mating society but while she listened to speech what she heard wasn’t about mating as becoming people in this society who can truly change the society not by their words as their actions in the bible it says that when your a christian society is supposed to be able to tell by how you act not by what you we would have bible classes we would have volunteer activities every two weeks and special perks that where being delivered to our room right now tomorrow the seventh graders and the freshman in high school and the freshman at the college who are not rose members will be going through a special orientation given by your rose partner sitting next to you he turned to me and smiled me I didn’t even know what his name was tomorrow after the orentation is over during church tomorrow here and at the lake there will be a special blessing service partners in high school will exchange promise rings in junior high it will be a cross necklace and if your one of the lucky one who got an older or a younger partner you will be exchanging a ring with rose on it indicating that you are legacies you are now released the rules are the only member of the opposite sex allowed in your room is your rose partner or a family member we walked out of the church we walked back to the dorms I stopped him wait before we go any further what is your name and how old are you because you look way to old to be in junior high or high school and I think I’m a little to young to be promised to someone in college he kiss my wrist I’m alexey he said in a accent I couldn’t place and I’m only seventeen which would make us six years apart are relationship is not going to be romantic he said out loud then he whispered in my ear unless you want it to be I blushed he laughed and grinned a evil little smile so what the hell just happened I ask him well you want to changed into something more comfortable

She wasn’t sleepy but she knew if she didn’t try to sleep she would be useless she plugged in her new iPhone and red phone she put christian music on low and she laid in her bed trying to sleep
