HOW TO GET ALONG WITH AN ANNOYING NEIGHBOUR IN THE DORM

Make dorm feel like  home

Life in the dorm could be interesting, alongside being quite annoying. This is one of the things college students have to face throughout their stay. It might not be rosy all through, as there would definitely be ups and downs. If you go through some topics on a writing service, for instance, here you can not only buy a powerpoint presentation, but also you would see tips on how to cope with a neighbour who annoys you every time. However, it is up to you to practicalize those tips, and not just read them alone.

Staying with unlikable roommates is difficult. What makes it so, is because you live near to each other which could be so for a couple of months running to years. However, living with unlikable neighbours is way worse, as unlike the fact that you get to see your roommates every day, you might not really know who your neighbours are, only from a distance though.

Hence, having to confront them might be difficult than you think. There is a needed level of diplomacy which you need to apply, in order to ensure that you do not cause bad blood between the two of you. This is one of the integral aspects of communication which you have to learn; the application of diplomacy is essential to resolving conflicts with people who you are not too familiar with.

The following are practical steps on how to get along with an annoying neighbour in your dorm:

1.Be polite

As expected, neighbours who you do not really get along with would most likely be impolite. Hence, it is up to you to ensure that you are polite, in order to make sure that peace is maintained. Taking noisy neighbours, for instance, it takes a lot to keep up with them, as they would hardly want to come to terms with the fact that they are constituting a nuisance in the dorm. To keep up with these set of people, you have to politely advise them to step down their noise. If this is not done with a polite tone, your advice might be of little or no effect.

2.Be brave

Asides being polite, there is also a need for you to be brave. It takes a lot to talk to an annoying neighbour who seemingly would not want to take to corrections. If it gets too much, you would need to man up, walk to their room, and knock on their door for the purpose of talking to them. When those neighbours realize that someone could actually walk up to them and talk them into changing their inactions, there is a high tendency that they would take to correction.

3.Be friendly

One of the effective ways to get along with an annoying neighbour in your dorm is trying to act friendly. One fact remains that, it could be a herculean task trying to keep up with a neighbour who annoys you a lot. However, if you are friendly with them, there is a high tendency that they would listen to whatever you say, unlike if you are not the friendly type, they would readily ignore you. So what you need do is, ensure you take out time to be friendly with them, with time, it would be easy for you to change them.

4.Make eye-contact:

This form of communication has proved to be effective over time. Making eye-to-eye contact when discussing with someone, shows that there is a level of seriousness and sincerity. When discussing with your neighbour who regularly annoys you; either intentionally or unintentionally, it is necessary that you maintain eye contact with the person.

5.Try to understand what makes them truly annoying:

Now, what you might not know is, what makes your neighbour annoying might be some of his actions which you consider inappropriate. For instance, it could be that your neighbour loves playing songs from his loudspeaker, and you are the type who does not fancy it. What you need to do is, get to know the reason behind why your neighbour plays music at the maximum volume. When you do, you might actually get to keep up with your neighbour, and probably get used to it as time goes on.
