  Guinea!!  My origin, my motherland.

I love Guinea so much, I had some fun there but sometimes  I don't like some of their cultures.

Woman from guinea are beautiful, smart, kind, intelligent, loving, humble the list goes on.

With all these qualities they suffer. They are less respected in Guinea, as they grow up and when they get old.

I was told by my parents that when I was born,  people were happy, everyone in my families came, brought food to my mom, some came  just to see the baby that was me. One week later there were a party that was held at my parents, at that time they were living in New York City. The party was a ritual that is done for all knew born in other to call out the baby name for the first time. So people   danced,  laughed  and had fun. They decided to call me Rama Barry. When the party was over everyone went home.

As for me I stayed with my parents, some years later, when I was a toddler, my mom and I went back home that is Guinea. She raised me, when I was 4 she brought me to school. I started to learn ABC, counting and singing all in French.

During those years of my life all I had to worry about was school, and to play with my friends.

However the problems started when  I turned seven.

One day my mom called me and told me that I was going to the village at my grand father's house for a month, I was very happy that I was finally going there, after so many years. However, what I didn't know was the reason why I was going there.

When I got to my Grandpa's I was really exited to visit the village, it had a lot of trees than houses and it was really nice, it felt felt calm and it was cold there, it wasn't like the capital at all.

Some days later Grandpa told me to go with him to one of his friends house, and I decided to go with him.

When we got to his friend house, grandpa knocked on the entrance door, A minutes later a woman opened the door. They said hi to each other and grandpa presented me to her, than he told me to go with the woman in her house wait for him there, that he would be back.

When the woman and I got in the house, there were two other Woman that sat on a carpet.

A minute later the woman that opened the door started undressing me, when she finished she put me on a carpet.

I looked at them and started to wounded what was going on. The woman that undressed me spread my legs and that's when it's hit me.

I realized that I was getting circumsized, the other two sat on each side of me holding my  hands so I wouldn't move them. .

I  looked at them with scary eyes, but they were not even looking at me, they were more concerned about what was  going on betwen my legs than my face.

I felt a sting of pain on my genital, then it started heurting, I started to cry. It felt like a part of me were been cut the more it heurt the more I cried, but I couldn't move because they held me.

The pain kept getting worse till the woman finished  what they were doing. They stood me up on my legs that felt like jelly.

Instead of putting the clothes I wore when I came in, they put on something else that were three African wrappers. One that covered from my waist, down to my ankles, the second from my chest, to my waist, it fell on top of the first one, and the last wrapper went on and covered my head with my ears. Next  they gave me a long cane to support myself  while I walked.

They brought me out, instead of only finding my  Grandpa, there were a lot of people, with gifts.

The pain between my legs started to get low when I saw the gifts, that were dolls, clothes, shoes etc...

I became happy, and got exited with what was to come next.

For that month it was like that everyday. The woman came and checked on me, then people would come see me bringing gift.

When I healed they did a big party for me. People came danced, brought gifts, had a lot of food. After that day, I went Back to my home in the capital, people were happy that I got circumcised and I was too, I felt proud of myself too.

But what i didn't know was that, that exitment would one day turn in to emotional and physical pain in my  future life.
