My name is Mel, I'm 41 years old and live in Berlin. I share a flat with a good friend and fellow author so there's never a shortage of writing projects.
I've always been a bookworm, I still am and I've been writing since my school days. The first time I wanted to write something was when I came out of the cinema, having just seen Labyrinth with David Bowie as Jarth, the goblin king. I wanted a follow-up story so badly.
While I never go around to write that, I soon started writing fan fiction. About my favourtite pop stars (Pet Shop Boys and Marc Almond) but also Star Trek.
A few years ago I took my fan fiction writing one step further and began working on my first novel about a pop star with magical abilities called Raoul Sinclair. I finished the first draft earlier this year and am working on the re-writes at the moment.
I also write short stories and some short non-fictional texts, trying to get them published in various anthologies.
This year is my first time participating in #NaNoWriMo so wish me luck!
Oh yes, I nearly forgot: I mostly write what I call 'dark queer urban fantasy', but also try my hand at lgbt romance and Victorian mysteries. Ocassionally I write songs without music (aka little pop song-style poems).
