Jade is the Colour of the Fallen

So this is my entry for the competition #WriteATrailer in which you, as the title suggests, write a trailer! This one is for my OC Jaiden, based on the colour Jade Green. I have not yet made a theme song for her, but I am likely to do so in the future, and it will be called "Jade is the Colour of the Fallen" because she believes herself to be a fallen girl, abused at home and running away.

This trailer with combine novel and script elements. The novel parts will have thoughts, dialogue and action, and the script will have the music cues and scene changes.

With that out of the way, let's begin!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(The music begins will a slow flute accompanied by a cello performing a melody that if soft, beautiful and slightly melancholy. This is our theme song, 'Jade is the Colour of the Fallen'. The camera shows a medium-wide shot with Jaiden in the centre, facing a marble pedestal that has a glass box containing a shimmering moonstone pendant.)

I stand at the pedestal, surrounded by the leaves of the Eucalypts in their beautiful oranges and yellows. The pedestal glows in the sunlight, beckoning me to take the moonstone inside. I hesitate, my hand freezing in mid-air. The moonstone shimmers, enticing me with its beauty. The silver chain on which it hangs shakes, and I feel the ground shake at the same time. Turning behind me, I see a huge Ursa towering above me, close to a nearby bush, covered in berries. It spots me, and I freeze, for I have never fought an Ursa before outside of the comforts of the classroom. It is far enough that I could shoot it, but I think that it'd be more fun to fight the beast head-on.

(The flute picks up the pace and begins playing a slightly different melody, and the cello becomes louder. Lyrics are added to the song, seeming beautiful but having very dark undertones. Jaiden smiles, baring her teeth before the camera pans to behind Jaiden's head and features the fight between the Ursa and her.)

(Just gonna warn you guys here that I am not good at writing action, let alone fight scenes. Let's see how this goes, shall we?)

I draw my scimitars slowly, cringing at the sound of the scraping metal. I use some energetic dust to create a small stone-shaped projectile and throw it at the Ursa's head. The rock shatters, releasing a small explosion, stunning the Ursa. I know that it won't be long before it wakes up, so I need to do this quickly. I twirl my scimitars in my hands, facing them backwards to prepare for the slashing. One thing I've learned is that scimitars are not stabbing weapons, but slashing weapons. I grin, then dash behind the Ursa, holding my scimitars to its throat. I quickly pull backwards, expecting its head to be sliced clean off, but all I do it make a gash. It's deep, but not deep enough. The Ursa wakes, roaring in rage at what I had done to it.

(An electric guitar and drum set join the music, the flute and guitar playing in a question-answer pattern. In this case, the guitar represents her parents, questioning and punishing her every move. The flute represents the young Jaiden, small and knowing little about the world and afraid to speak up. The tempo rises very quickly to the climax  of the song.)

I stagger backwards, feeling the ground rumble beneath me. I feel the Ursa's roar right into my chest, the loud sound shocking my heart. I shake my head, trying to get back into a fighting mood. I grip my scimitars tighter, my knuckles turning white. I run to the front of the Ursa, breathing heavily. The Ursa must sense that I am tired. Well, tired isn't the right word. Tired of the Ursa staying alive. I turn towards the Ursa, not seeing the huge paw coming towards my face. The Ursa's paw flexes, the claws becoming more exposed. The huge claws narrowly miss my eye but scratch my nose quite severely. I clutch my nose, my aura flickering. I haven't got much left.

(The flute has a sad solo, the cello backing it with a quiet, quick, panicked bass line. The lyrics turn more into a plea for help.)

I crouch down, defeated. This can't be where I fall, right? The Ursa stands above me, raising its paw to strike once more. My aura flickers again before going out entirely. I raise my scimitars, trying to shield myself. I close my eyes, bracing for the attack. The Ursa's paw comes down.

(The flute picks up the pace again, the drums are back, but the guitar is gone. The lyrics become more confident and hopeful as the next scene happens in slow-motion.)

I open my eyes. The Ursa's paw has almost struck my scimitars, and I scrunch my eyes and turn my head away as I slice with my scimitars to cut the Ursa's paw off.

(The flute becomes loud, confident and angry. The lyrics become more like a battle cry, similar to the second part of 'This Life is Mine'. The scene goes back to regular speed.)

The Ursa roars, rearing back and staggering backwards into shooting range. I lick the blood from my fingers, grip my scimitars and bring the pummels together. A string extends from the top scimitar and attaches to the tip of the bottom scimitar, creating a bow. I create a sharp spear out of ice dust and knock it to the bow. I breathe deeply, gripping the string and arrow. I pull the string back to my cheek, halt my breath and aim for the Ursa's eye; the weak point of all. I release the string, breathing out. The Ursa sees the arrow, but too late. The tip pierces the Ursa's eye, burying itself deep in the socket, probably going deep enough to cause permanent damage to its brain if it even has one. I quickly throw another energy dust bomb and walk up to the Ursa.

(The music fades slowly into a ballad similar to the start of the song, and the lyrics talk about how Jaiden will be stronger now and will not give in to her parent's voices. The camera pans to in front of Jaiden, providing the first good look at Jaiden's face.)

"Time to put you out of your misery!" I slice off the Ursa's head using the gash I made earlier and the grimm turns to ashes.

(The music stops, and the screen cuts to black.)

Well, that took a while to do, and I hope that you all like it!
