Chapter 1

Coming home was just as boring as always. The lazy cat was lounging in front of the door mat, just waiting to trip people up. The devil, otherwise known as my brother was sitting on his chair playing forte night. At least my parents are happy to see me , I think....

I walked over to the glass door and saw mum and dad whispering quietly to each other with worried expressions on their faces.

“Mum? Dad? I asked, slowly opening the door.

“Sweetie! You’re here early!”

That was when it happened. A sound of smashing glass and a piercing scream echoed through the house coming from the other room.

I had to watch my whole family die all because of a stupid game!

You see, when I was little I used to be a bit of a goody-two-shoes so my aunt decided to give me a little golden bracelet which now lives on my ankle.

My whole family died because my aunt played dangerous games with dangerous people. And it looks like I just became the new player.

Chapter 2

I am in a boarding school now, only for girls mind you. A boarding school where barely anyone knows my name. It’s been around three years since my last attack and I have just recently turned fifteen. I have deep blue eyes that turn slightly green in the summer and blonde hair that flows freely around my shoulders although the teachers keep constantly telling me to tie it back.

I doubt that anybody knows why I am here, about the attack, about my dead family and how much danger the three thousand students that board here could be in. My golden bracelet still rests casually on my ankle, away from the centre of attention. My aunt hasn’t been in touch with me the whole time that I’ve been here, never tried to explain herself or apologise. But if you were the women who was the cause of her own sisters’ death, would you?

I’m the girl in the school who blends in with the crowd, not too noticeable but obviously noticeable enough to get called to the headmistress’ office for the third time this week. I walked down the abandoned corridor, turned left and approached the room of doom. AKA the heads office.

As I neared the door I heard big thuds echoing through the halls. A big man with blacked out sunglasses and a pristine black suit approached me and said, “Miss Camilla Carmona?” I nodded and turned to walk away. “You are needed at the Association Miss.” He replied in his low, gruff voice. “Association? What..... who are you?” I cried reaching for the doorknob to the heads office, ready for a quick escape if needed...

There was a silence as the man took in the situation. “Miss Carmona, are you trying to imply that you have received no information whatsoever regarding your situation?” I nodded once more trying to read the mans impossible expressions behind those huge sunglasses that rested on his nose. He sighed and took out a small black phone, he quickly dialled a number. “Stay here.” He said turning away from me whilst bringing his phone up to his ear.

I couldn’t make out much of the conversation except for the fact that it was about me. With a snap the man turned around and smiled. “Well, this is a surprise, an operative that doesn’t know who she belongs to! Ha!” He took off his glasses and I saw twinkling brown eyes staring back at me. “Miss Carmona, I am agent Kyle of the Association. It is an honour to finally meet you.” Kyle stretched out his arm and I took it, shaking it cautiously. “Hi Kyle! Um, do you mind filling me in on what is going on please?”

“Of course Miss, he said with a smile. “Well, the thing is, I knew your aunt. Miss Mia Chicago? She made a deal with your parents saying that the only way that you could be safe from her... mistakes was to be professionally trained to be an operative for the Association. The Association is the most important security detail on Earth! Anyway, your parents agreed. They still blamed your aunt for having to but they agreed to keep you safe. You were to be collected at tge age of fifteen to be recruited to become the new Player and defeat your aunts old enemy.”

“Oh.” I muttered quietly. “But Kyle, why can’t my aunt go up against her own enemy? I mean why me?”

“Miss Carmona, your aunt died trying to defeat the enemy. I’m sorry.” Kyle said with a crack in his voice. “You’re our best hope.”

I stared down at the golden bracelet that my aunt had given me. “And this? Why did she give this to me?”

“I’ve alresdy said too much Miss.” Kyle muttered tiredly. “All of your questions will be answered at the Association. Ok?”

I nodded slowly and followed him too a shiny black helicopter where i got strapped in by Kyle and saw my trunk get lifted inside by the pilot.

I want answers and I’m gonna get them, I thought.

“3....2...1... and we’re off” called the pilot.

I hope you’re ready ‘Association’ because here I come.
